MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally for a 10-7 victory over the No. 7-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules Baseball team in a midweek MIAA game on Tuesday afternoon, March 31, at Bearcat Baseball Field.
The Mules (24-6, 15-4 MIAA) are scheduled to host No. 15-ranked and MIAA-leading Rogers State (28-4, 16-2 MIAA) in a three-game conference series April 2-4 at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in Warrensburg.
After tying the game, 6-6, with two runs in the top of the seventh inning,
Cole Young put Central Missouri in front, 7-6, with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Northwest's Jeremiah Cabuyaban and Wilmer Jimenez hit two-run home runs in the bottom-half of the eighth to give NWMSU the 10-7 advantage and eventual victory.
Cody Moore hit his team-best fifth homer of the season, while
Ryker Edwards belted his second home run of 2026, and
Brock Kobel and
Cole Kreisel each had two hits, pacing the Mules offensively.
Central Missouri right-handed reliever
Sam Wyrick (2-1) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk in two-thirds of an inning.
For the game, the Bearcats (23-9, 13-5 MIAA) outhit the Mules, 10-8.
