ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The University of Central Missouri Jennies bowling team finished fourth at the GLVC Championship this weekend, turning in a strong performance in bracket play.
Competing in the NCAA match format consisting of a traditional team game followed by Baker total pinfall and, if necessary, a Baker best-of-seven tiebreaker the Jennies battled through a competitive field.
In the second elimination match Saturday, UCM defeated McKendree, 2-0, winning both the traditional team game (1009-990) and Baker total (909-860). The Jennies used a balanced lineup effort to control the match from start to finish.
Sydney Lee led the way with a team-high 222 in traditional play, while
Emma Hawley added a 214 and
Haylee Bates contributed a 210. UCM carried that momentum into Baker play to complete the sweep.
Central Missouri advanced to face top-seeded Maryville, falling 0-2 in the semifinal round. The Jennies dropped the traditional game (952-993) and Baker total (898-1085).
Lee again paced UCM with a team-best 191 against Maryville, while Hawley added a 177 in traditional scoring.
The Jennies posted multiple strong team scores throughout the championship, including a 1009 in traditional play, and now turn their focus to the ITC Team and Singles National Championships, scheduled for April 13–18 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
