Four Top-Three Finishes Highlight Day Two of MIAA Indoor Championships for UCM Track & Field

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Four student-athletes had top-three performances to highlight the second day of action for University of Central Missouri Track & Field at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday, Feb. 28, inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Jumps

Michenainda Aritus was the MIAA runner-up in the women's long jump, placing second with a school indoor record, provisional, and personal best mark of 6.15m (20-02.25). Marissa Austene and Kristen Jones also finished in the top-10 for the Jennies in the event. Austene was fifth with a provisional mark of 5.82m (19-1.25), and Jones was ninth with a mark of 5.66m (18-06.75).
Zachary Proctor finished on the podium in the men's high jump, placing third with a provisional and personal best mark of 2.13m (6-11.75) on his third attempt. That mark ties for fifth-best in indoor school history.
Kwyn Hamlin and Therese Reindl each had top 10 finishes in the women's high jump. Hamlin was sixth with a personal best 1.67m (5-05.75), and Reindl was eighth with a mark of 1.62m (5-03.75).
Kaira Mannio placed eighth in the women's pole vault with a personal best mark of 3.78m (12-04.75).
Evan Gosnell finished eighth in the men's long jump with a personal best mark of 7.06m (23-02.00).

Distance

Cooper Palmer finished runner-up in the men's 5,000m run with a time of 14:30.37.

Throws

Landon Mason finished third in the men's weight throw with a provisional and personal best mark of 20.43m (67-00), which is fourth-best in school history.

Prelims

Grizell Scarlett finished first in both the 60m dash (provisional 7.38) and 200m dash (provisional 23.68) prelim races to earn spots in Sunday's final. Her time of 23.68 in the 200m dash was a personal best and school indoor record.
Nolan Vancauwemberghe finished second in the men's 60m hurdles prelim with a provisional time of 7.86 to qualify for the final on Sunday.
The Jennies had three finals qualifiers in the women's 60m hurdles. Michenainda Aritus was third in the prelim with a provisional and personal best time of 8.575, Chika Bekwunye was fourth with a provisional and personal best 8.578, and Pau Martinez was seventh with a provisional and personal best 8.89. Aritus' time is the third-fastest, and Bekwunye's time is the fourth-fastest in indoor school history.
Jamoi Jackson qualified for the men's 400m dash final, placing third in the prelim with an indoor school record, provisional, and personal best time of 46.61.
Ariel Kerr earned spots in both the 60m dash and 200m dash finals. He finished sixth in the prelim of the 60m dash with a provisional time of 6.76 and eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 21.94.
Jayson Williams also qualified for the men's 200m dash final, placing seventh in the prelim with a personal best and provisional time of 21.83.
Yunus Altinay earned a spot in the men's 600-yard run final, finishing seventh in the prelim with a personal best time of 1:12.41.
