RV Jennies Build Winning Streak to Six with 61-51 Victory over RiverHawks

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Neely Schaaf scored 15 points, and Reese Schaaf and Taylor Weishaar each tallied 14 points, helping the University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball Team to a 61-51 victory over the Northeastern State RiverHawks on Thursday evening, Feb. 12, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.

The Jennies (18-5, 12-2 MIAA), who have now won six straight games, are scheduled to host Arkansas-Fort Smith (4-19,3-11 MIAA) for Mo's Maniacs Youth Day on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 3 p.m. in Warrensburg.

UCM led by two points, 41-39, with 5:24 remaining in the third quarter before using an 11-2 run to gain an 11-point lead, 52-41, after Weishaar converted a layup with six seconds to go in the quarter.

Central Missouri stretched its lead to as much as 13 points in the fourth quarter, and Northeastern State couldn't get any closer than seven points for the final 8:36, securing the victory for the Jennies.

Neely Schaaf was just 3-for-8 from the field but went a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line for her team-high 15 points, while Reese Schaaf was 6-of-12 from the floor and 2-of-2 at the foul line for her 14 points, and snagged a team-high nine rebounds. Weishaar went 7-of-17 from the floor for her 14 points, going along with seven rebounds and a season-best five blocks.

For the game, the Jennies shot 37 percent from the field (22-of-60) and were just 5-of-27 from three-point range for 19 percent. UCM went an impressive 12-of-13 at the free-throw line for 92 percent. The Jennies outrebounded the RiverHawks, 41-29, and outscored NSU in the paint, 32-28, and on second chance points, 11-4.

McKenzie Smith tallied 13 points, pacing Northeastern State (16-7, 8-6 MIAA).
