Jennies Basketball Pulls Away in Fourth Quarter for 64-54 Win Over Newman

WICHITA, Kan. – University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball upped its winning streak to six games with a 64-54 victory over the Newman Jets on Wednesday, Jan. 14, inside Fugate Gymnasium.

The Jennies (12-4, 6-1 MIAA) are scheduled to conclude a four-game road trip with a MIAA contest at Emporia State (8-7, 2-4 MIAA) on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1:30 p.m. inside William L. White Auditorium in Emporia, Kan.

Central Missouri led 50-48 with 7:01 to go in the fourth quarter before going on an 8-0 run to open a 10-point advantage, 58-48, after Taylor Weishaar converted a jumper with 4:41 remaining on the clock. The Jets (7-9, 1-6 MIAA) would get no closer than seven points in the final four minutes of the contest, sealing the victory for UCM.

Reese Schaaf netted a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including a 2-of-3 performance from three-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 showing at the free-throw line, and snagged 10 rebounds for her team-high sixth double-double of 2025-26. Weishaar added 14 points, and Neely Schaaf tallied 12 points, rounding out the Jennies in double figures in the contest.

For the game, UCM shot 42 percent from the field (22-of-52), 24 percent from three-point range (4-of-17), and were 16-of-21 at the free-throw line for 76 percent. Central Missouri outrebounded Newman, 38-32, and outscored the Jets in the paint, 32-24, and off turnovers, 12-11.

Jaeden McMillin had 24 points, leading Newman.
