MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. -- University of Central Missouri Mules Golf's
CJ Phillips won the 2025 Oklahoma Golf Association 43rd-Annual Stroke Play Championship on Thursday, June 19, at the Shangri-La Resort in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.
One of the toughest and largest tournaments in the state, Phillips, who is a native of Edmond, Okla., finished with a three-round tally of 10-under par 206 (70-67-69) to tie for first place before winning on the first playoff hole against Baylor Bostick (Duncan, Okla.) and William Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.).
Phillips, who just completed his sophomore campaign at UCM, ranked second on the team in 2024-25 with a 73.43 stroke average over 35 rounds. He compiled one top-10 finish and was named All-MIAA after placing 12th at the 2025 MIAA Men's Golf Championship on April 23 in Jefferson City, Mo. Phillips helped the Mules to a runner-up performance at the MIAA Championship and a fourth-place showing at the NCAA-II Midwest/Central Regional in St. Joseph, Mo., May 10. With the fourth-place finish at the regional tournament, UCM earned a spot in the NCAA-II Men's Golf Championship May 19-21 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
