Jennies Basketball Turns Back Nebraska Kearney Saturday, 72-69

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Reese Schaaf scored 23 points, and Taylor Weishaar had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as the University of Central Missouri women's basketball team posted a 72-69 victory over the Nebraska Kearney Lopers on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.

The Jennies (5-3, 1-1 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Washburn (6-2, 2-0 MIAA) for a MIAA road contest on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. in Topeka, Kan.

Nebraska Kearney led, 69-67, with 1:10 remaining in the fourth quarter before Schaaf drilled a three-pointer with 54 seconds remaining, giving the Jennies the 70-69 advantage.

After Weishaar and Jayla Griffith each hit one of two free-throw attempts, extending the Central Missouri lead to 72-69, the Lopers had one more chance to tie the game, but Jillian Aschoff's three-pointer was off the mark, sealing the victory for UCM.

Schaaf went 8-of-13 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range, and was 4-of-4 at the free-throw line for her team-high 23 points. She added seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

Weishaar compiled her second double-double of 2025-26 with her 16 points and 11 boards, while Makenzie Farmer dished out a career-best six assists in the victory.

For the game, Central Missouri shot 48 percent from the field (24-of-50), 39 percent from three-point range (7-of-18), and went 17 out of 24 at the free-throw line for 71 percent. The Jennies outrebounded the Lopers, 35-25.

Saniya Simmons scored a game-high 26 points to pace the Lopers (4-6, 0-2 MIAA).
