Balanced Attack Leads Jennies Basketball Past West Florida in WBCA Showcase, 85-62

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Taylor Weishaar and Jayla Griffith each scored 15 points, and Reese Schaaf and Hayden Heim each added 12 points to lead a balanced scoring effort as the University of Central Missouri women's basketball team rolled past the West Florida Argonauts, 85-62, in the WBCA Showcase Friday morning, Nov. 21, inside the State Farm Field House at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.

The Jennies (2-2) are scheduled to take on Saint Leo (1-1) at 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET) on Monday, Nov. 24, in Saint Leo, Fla.

Central Missouri trailed 15-13 after the end of the first quarter before outscoring the Argonauts in the second quarter, 18-9, to open up a 31-24 halftime lead. The Jennies would not trail the remainder of the contest on their way to the 85-62 victory.

Weishaar, who was named Most Outstanding Player for the game by the WBCA, shot 5-of-11 from the field, was 2-of-2 from three-point range, and a perfect 3-of-3 at the free-throw line for her 15 points, while Griffith went 5-of-9 from three-point range for her 15 points.

Weishaar also led UCM on the glass with seven rebounds and tallied three blocks in the contest, and Schaaf added six rebounds and four assists.

For the game, Central Missouri shot 48 percent from the field (30-of-62) and three-point range (12-of-25) and were 13-of-16 at the free-throw line for 81 percent.

The Jennies controlled the glass, outrebounding West Florida (3-1), 37-22, and outscored the Argonauts in the paint, 32-26, off turnovers, 21-10, and in second-chance points, 18-0.

Isabel Grimes had 10 points, pacing West Florida in the game.
