SAINT LEO, Fla. – Taylor Weishaar scored 18 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, leading the University of Central Missouri women's basketball team to an 87-33 victory over the Saint Leo Lions on Monday afternoon, Nov. 24, at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
The Jennies (3-2) are scheduled to return home to the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg to face Evangel (Mo.) on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 1 p.m.
Central Missouri used a 16-0 run at the start of the first quarter to jump out to an 18-4 advantage and never looked back on its way to the 54-point margin of victory. The 54-point triumph was the largest since a 108-45 victory over Johnson & Wales in 2016.
UCM outscored Saint Leo (1-3) in the third and fourth quarters, 39-13, including 16-3 in the third quarter and 23-10 in the fourth.
Weishaar went 7-of-12 from the floor, 1-of-1 from three-point range, and converted three free throws for her 18 points while snagging her 14 boards for the double-double.
Cierra Smith added 14 points,
Rylee Vierthaler had a career-high 12 points, and
Reese Schaaf scored 11 points, rounding out the UCM players in double figures.
For the game, the Jennies shot 46 percent from the field (34-of-74) and outrebounded the Lions, 66-25. Central Missouri also outscored Saint Leo in the paint, 40-20, and on second chance points, 22-0.
Amy Duggan netted nine points to pace Saint Leo.
