ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Reese Schaaf had a career-high 32 points and 20 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, and
Taylor Weishaar snagged a career-high 16 rebounds as the Central Missouri Jennies posted a 68-62 win over the Missouri Western Griffons in overtime Wednesday, Jan. 22, inside the MWSU Fieldhouse.
The Jennies (12-8, 4-5 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Maryville, Mo., for a 1:40 p.m. MIAA contest at Northwest Missouri State (9-10, 2-7 MIAA) Saturday, Jan. 25.
Schaaf, a junior from El Dorado Springs, Mo., went 12-of-17 from the field and 7-of-10 at the free-throw line for her career-high 32 points while pulling down her career-best 20 rebounds to complete her team and MIAA-best 10th double-double of 2024-25. Schaaf's 20 boards are the most rebounds in a single game since Kayonna Lee had 21 against Pittsburg State in 2017.
A freshman from Wathena, Kan., Weishaar tallied 10 points with her career-best 16 rebounds and blocked a game-best five shots, while
Lauren Frost dished out a game-high nine assists and had nine points, rounding out the UCM leaders in the game.
The Jennies trailed the Griffons, 59-57, before Schaaf drove to the basket and converted a layup with 10 seconds to go to knot the game, 59-59, and force overtime.
With just under two minutes to go in overtime, Missouri Western's Alyssa Bonilla netted a three-pointer, giving the Griffons a 62-60 lead. Weishaar responded for the Jennies, however, drilling a three-pointer of her own with 1:26 to go to put Central Missouri in front, 63-62. UCM would not trail the remainder of overtime, sealing the victory.
The Jennies shot 43 percent (24-of-56) from the field and were 15-of-24 at the free-throw line for 63 percent. UCM dominated the glass, outrebounding Missouri Western, 48-33, and outscored the Griffons in the paint, 32-30.
Bonilla had 15 points to lead Missouri Western (11-6, 6-3 MIAA).
