MARYVILLE, Mo. – Trey Miller and
Kayla Goodwin paced UCM track and field in the opening day of the 2024 MIAA Outdoor Championships Friday, May 3, from the Herschel Neil Track at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville, Mo.
Miller leads the decathlon with 4007 points through five events while Goodwin is in third place after four events in the heptathlon posting 3108 points after four events.
Miller had four first place finishes on the day including the 100-meter dash (10.70), long jump (7.19m/23-7.25), high jump (1.96m/6-5), and 400-meter dash (49.8) while taking third in the shot put (12.35m/40-6.25) for good measure.
Goodwin, a native of Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand; finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.49) with a pair of third place finishes in the high jump (1.65m/5-5) and shot put (11m/36-1.25), while taking sixth in the 200-meter dash (25.88).
Logan Grover currently sits in fourth place in the decathlon with 3618 points highlighted by a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (personal-best time of 50.26) while
Kristen Jones is in eighth place in the heptathlon posting 2633 points.
The decathlon will conclude with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500-meter run while the heptathlon concludes with the long jump, javelin, and 800-meter dash on Saturday, May 4.
