  • Central Missouri Jennies basketball (18-6, 12-6 MIAA) is scheduled to travel to Emporia State (11-13, 8-10 MIAA) and Washburn (11-13, 6-12 MIAA) for a pair of MIAA road games Wednesday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 24. The Jennies are slated to face the Emporia State Lady Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Emporia, Kan., at White Auditorium before trekking to Topeka, Kan., Saturday for a 1 p.m. tussle with the Washburn Ichabods inside Lee Arena.
  • The Jennies are coming off a 79-64 win over Fort Hays State Feb. 17 in Warrensburg. UCM has won three straight games and four of its last five contests.
  • Through 24 games, the Central Missouri is paced by Brooke Littrell (19.1 ppg., 8.6 rpg., 2.7 apg., 1.1 spg.), Olivia Nelson (15.1 ppg., 4.0 apg., 2.0 spg., 3.0 rpg.) and Ashley Tull (10.7 ppg., 6.2 rpg., 1.2 bpg.).
  • Littrell leads the MIAA in scoring through 24 games with her 19.1 points per game and her .879 free-throw percentage.
  • As a team through 24 contests, the Jennies are shooting 45.4 percent from the floor, 29.5 percent from three-point range and 75.8 percent at the free-throw line. UCM is outscoring its opponents, 75.1-63.4 and outrebounding adversaries, 37.6-32.1.
Last Time Out for UCM: Jennies Basketball Beats Tigers 79-64, Saturday
  • Brooke Littrell and Olivia Nelson each scored 20 points as the Central Missouri Jennies basketball team defeated the Fort Hays State Tigers, 79-64, Saturday, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
  • Littrell went 6-of-14 from the field collecting 10 rebounds while Nelson was 7-of-13 from the floor including 2-of-6 from beyond the arc adding five rebounds for good measure. Forward Ashley Tull ended the contest with a double-double performance (15 points and 10 rebounds), while redshirt sophomore Graycen Holden had six points and four rebounds.
  • Guards Allie Clevenger and Ali Vigil ended the contest with five points each as Central Missouri outshot the Tigers 46.8 to 42.6 percent from the floor and 31 to 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Weekly Honors for Littrell
  • For the fourth time this season, Brooke Littrell is the MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week -- this time for the week of Feb. 13-18.
  • Littrell averaged 19 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the Jennies' two wins over Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State Feb. 15 and Feb. 17.
  • Against the Lopers Thursday, she tallied 18 points on 60 percent shooting (6-of-10) and a 6-of-7 performance at the free-throw line while also grabbing four rebounds before posting 20 points and 10 boards for her 10th double-double of the season Saturday against the Tigers.
Individual Milestones
  • UCM head coach Dave Slifer earned his 800th career win as a head coach in the 78-65 win over then No. 24-ranked Missouri Southern Feb. 10 in Joplin, Mo. Slifer is an impressive 418-177 in his now 20 seasons as the Central Missouri women's basketball head coach. He's already the winningest head coach in both UCM and MIAA women's basketball history, and the second-winningest coach in NCAA Division II history (802 career victories in 35 seasons).
Jennies in the Rankings
  • Central Missouri was picked first in both the 2023-24 MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls. UCM received 167 points and 11 first-place votes in the coaches poll and 283 points and four first-place votes in the media poll.
Jennies Basketball Inks High School Standout Taylor Weishaar During Signing Period
  • University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced the signing of Riverside High School standout Taylor Weishaar to a National Letter of Intent during the 2023-24 signing period Friday, Nov. 17.
  • Weishaar: 2023 Sports in Kansas 2A Player of the Year…First Team All-State as a junior…Two-time unanimous first team all-league…Second Team All-State as a sophomore…All-State Honorable Mention and all-league honorable mention as a freshman…four-year letterwinner…Averaged 17.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.5 blocks per game as a junior…Helped her team to a Kansas 2A Substate Championship and Kansas 2A State Runner Up finish…Was also a four-year letterwinner in volleyball…First team all-league volleyball as a junior and senior…Daughter of Russell and Lori Weishaar…Plans to major in exercise science at UCM.
