WICHITA, Kan. – The Central Missouri Jennies (7-9, 3-4 MIAA) swept the Newman Jets (3-18, 0-7 MIAA) by a final score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-12) on Saturday, Oct. 12, from Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita.
After the Jens took the opening set of the match 25-15 led by middle blocker
Rachel Ziesman's (seven kills and three blocks overall) set-best four kills on four swings (1.000 hitting percentage), Central Missouri doubled their lead in the second thanks to six kills from sophomore
Maya Fergerson (match-high 11 kills overall).
The Jennies completed the sweep in the third, closing the match out on a 9-1 run paced by senior
Tiffany Little's (six kills and three digs overall) set-high four kills on nine attempts (.333 attack percentage) as UCM earned their seventh victory of the season.
The Jens outhit Newman by a margin of .268 to -.010 thanks to six blocks (including a career-high two solo blocks) from middle blocker
Elinor Engel, who added six kills and four digs while redshirt junior Grace Winklemann (career-high five service aces) collected a team-high 18 digs pacing the back row defensively.
