WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Cole LaLonde tossed five scoreless innings and struck out six leading No. 4-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball to a 6-3 win over the Central Oklahoma Bronchos in the series finale of a three-game MIAA series Sunday, April 23, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
With the win, the Mules (33-12, 24-6 MIAA) complete a three-game series sweep of the Bronchos (29-16, 16-14 MIAA).
A redshirt senior right-hander from Minnetonka, Minn., LaLonde earned the victory and improved to 2-1 on the mound this season after giving up no earned runs on just two hits with six Ks and just two walks in five innings of work.
Jack Schark homered for the third time this season and added a double and two RBI while
John Prudhom belted his 13th home run of 2023,
Carter Young collected two hits,
Adamo Stornello drove in a pair of runs, and
Isaiah Pani doubled, pacing Central Missouri at the plate.
UCM's defense played a significant role in the win, turning three double plays and committing no errors.
Noah Olson went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI, pacing Central Oklahoma offensively.
Broncho starting pitcher Aiden Bagwell (5-1) suffered the loss on the rubber, allowing two earned runs on four hits with two walks in two innings.
The Mules are scheduled to travel to No. 13 Quincy for a non-conference, midweek game Tuesday, April 25, at 3 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.
