QUINCY, Ill. – The No. 13-ranked Quincy Hawks scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally from a 5-1 deficit and defeat No. 4-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball, 8-6, Tuesday, April 25, at QU Stadium.
The Mules (33-13, 24-6 MIAA) are scheduled to host Fort Hays State (20-27, 10-20 MIAA) in the final three-game MIAA series of the regular season April 28-30 at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in Warrensburg.
John Prudhom went 2-for-5 with two RBI,
Cole Moore was 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a pair of runs and
Vance Tobol hit his 10th homer of the season, pacing Central Missouri at the plate.
UCM reliever
Brock Toney (3-3) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing two earned runs on one hit with a walk in a third of an inning.
Gino D'Alessio went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run while Nolan Wosman also homered, leading the Hawks (32-9) offensively.
Quincy reliever Cruz Meier (2-1) earned the win on the rubber, giving up one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 1 2/3 innings. Chase Gockel secured the save for the Hawks after throwing a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts.
