WARRENSBURG, Mo. – For the second straight game, No. 4-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball scored a run late, turning back the Central Oklahoma Bronchos, 6-5, in game two of a three-game MIAA series Saturday afternoon, April 22, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (32-12, 23-6 MIAA) clinch their 11th series win of the season with Saturday's triumph and will look to complete the three-game, series sweep of the Bronchos (29-15, 16-13 MIAA) Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m.
After Central Oklahoma jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three runs in the second and one run in the third, UCM scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and a run each in the sixth and seventh to gain a 6-5 advantage.
Carter Young went 2-for-4 with a double, his team-best 15th home run of the season and a RBI,
Jack Schark was 2-for-4 with a double,
John Prudhom had two hits in four at bats, including a double, going along with two runs driven in, and
Cole Moore belted his fifth homer of 2023, pacing Central Missouri at the plate in the win.
Reliever
Tyler Kotsis (2-0) earned the victory on the mound for the Mules, allowing no earned runs on no hits with two strikeouts and zero walks in two innings while closer
JD McReynolds tallied his team-best fifth save of the season after tossing a scoreless and hitless ninth inning with two strikeouts.
Noah Olson went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and RBI, and Seth Gray hit a three-run homer, leading the Bronchos offensively.
Central Oklahoma reliever Valek Cisneros (3-2) suffered the setback on the rubber, surrendering one earned run on two hits with one strikeout in two innings.
