WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Max Holy and
Jack Schark each tallied three hits as the Central Missouri Mules baseball team run-ruled the Rockhurst Hawks, 12-2 in seven innings, Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (6-5) are scheduled to host Northwest Missouri State (2-9) in a three-game MIAA series Feb. 24-26 in Warrensburg.
Holy, a junior from Clinton, Iowa, went 3-for-4 with a double and hit is first homer of the season while driving in two runs, and Schark, a sophomore from Lake St. Louis, Mo., was 3-for-5 with two RBI, leading UCM at the plate.
Carter Young added two hits, including a double, while
Brett Grupe and
Quinton Hall each tallied a pair of RBI.
Right-handed reliever
Jeremiah Ceasar (1-0) earned his first victory of the season on the mound, allowing two earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts and one walk in two innings.
The Mules did the bulk of their scoring early, plating five runs in the bottom of the first the jump out to a 5-0 lead.
UCM went on to score one in the third and two each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, invoking the 10-run rule after Schark smacked an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Jackson Lunders for the 12th and decisive run of the game.
Austin Murray went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI, pacing the Hawks (0-7) offensively.
Rockhurst starter William Pender (0-1) suffered the setback on the rubber after surrendering five earned runs on four hits with a walk in two thirds of an inning.
