COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Central Missouri cross country teams competed in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri-Columbia on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
The Mules cross country team finished the meet in sixth place clocking a total time of 2:09.17 earning 153 points respectively.
Individually, two Mule runners finished in the top 10 including
Paul Korir and
Bryan O'Barr. Korir, a freshman from Eldoret, Kenya placed sixth with a time of 24:56.9 earning five points. O'Barr, recorded the 8k race at 25:05.9, good enough for ninth place overall (scoring eight points).
Rounding out the scoring for the Mules was
Brady Maher (26:13.3, 39 points scored),
Luke Engel (26:29.1, 39 points scored), and
Delfino Juarez (26:32.5, 52 points scored) who all posted personal-best times respectively.
On the women's side, the Jennies finished the meet in fifth place in a time of 1:58.54 earning 136 points overall.
There were three Jennie runners who placed in the top 25 including
McKenzie Bergman,
Risper Mengich, and
Chloee Belgum. Bergman ran a personal-best 6k of 22:41.7 (ninth place, nine points scored), while Mengich posted a 19
th place finish in 23:23.4 (19 points scored), and Belgum crossed the finish line with a personal-best time of 23:39.8 (22
nd place, 22 points scored).
Sophomores
Rylee Adams (24:25.4, 39 points scored) and
Lilly Geelan (24:44.6, 47 points scored) both posted personal-best times in the meet.
The Mules and Jennies next meet is Friday, Oct. 7, at the Border War Cross Country College Championships hosted by Principia College.
