PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Missouri Mules and Jennies track and field set four school records and had 13 NCAA-II provisional marks established at the 14th-annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic Saturday, April 9, at Carnie Smith Stadium on the Pittsburg State University Campus.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Lucy Steinmeyer won the women's 400m dash with a school record and outdoor personal-best time of 54.84. Her time ranks fifth-best in NCAA-II this season.
- Antonio Lay won both the 100m and 200m dash Saturday in Pittsburg. In the 100m, he clocked a personal-best, provisional, and school-record time of 10.25. His time is the second-fastest in Division II so far in 2022. In the 200m dash, he compiled a school-record and personal-best time of 20.80. His time is also a provisional time and is the second-best in NCAA-II this season.
- Parker Wormek won the men's 110m hurdles with a school-record, provisional and personal-best time of 14.02. His time is tied for third-fastest in Division II in 2022. Jathan Deberry finished third with a provisional time of 14.32.
- Connor McKee placed first in the men's 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 54.17.
- Jana Shawver captured the women's 800m run title with a provisional and outdoor personal-best time of 2:11.015. Her time is seventh-best in school history and the ninth-fastest in Division II.
- Laia Gonzalez finished second in the women's 400m hurdles, clocking a provisional time of 1:01.78. Her time is the 10th-fastest in program history and 16th-fastest in NCAA-II.
Pole Vault
- Madi Wulfekotter won the women's pole vault, clearing a provisional height of 4.17m (13-08.25). Her mark ties for the best in NCAA-II in 2022 and is second in school history.
- The Mules went 1-2-3 in the men's pole vault, with Reagan Ulrich placing first, Vincent Hobbie second and Jack Hodge third. All three UCM vaulters had provisional marks. Ulrich cleared a personal-best 5.37m (17-07.25), which is the top mark in Division II this season and is second-best in program history, while Hobbie cleared 5.17m (16-11.50). Hobbie's mark is fifth-best in NCAA-II and seventh all-time at Central Missouri. Hodge cleared 4.97m (16-03.50) in his third place showing.
Throws
- Ashlan Burton won the women's shot put with a provisional throw of 15.00m (49-02.50). That mark is fourth in program history and fourth-best in NCAA-II in 2022.
- Rachael Molloy captured the hammer throw title with a mark of 51.42m (168-08.00). Her mark is ninth-best in school history.
Jumps
- Christopher Goodwin finished runner-up in the men's long jump, posting a provisional mark of 7.42m (24-04.25). That mark is fourth-best in NCAA-II this season.
UCM track and field is scheduled to host the annual Outdoor Mule Relays Friday, April 15, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg.
