Box Score 2 WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Central Missouri Jennies softball swept the Newman Jets in an MIAA doubleheader on Jennies Softball 50th Anniversary Celebration Day Saturday, April 9, at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex. UCM won game one, 6-3, before taking the nightcap, 10-2 in five innings.
The Jennies (13-26, 6-10 MIAA) are scheduled to host No. 10 Central Oklahoma in an MIAA doubleheader Sunday, April 10, at noon.
Game 1: Central Missouri 6, Newman 3
After falling behind, 3-0, early, UCM scored three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to rally for a 6-3 victory in game one on the day.
Makenzie McAtee went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, leading the Jennies in the opener.
Kyleigh Lay (5-9) earned the win in the circle for Central Missouri after giving up three earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk in a complete-game performance.
Laurie Cooke went 3-for-4 with a homer, two runs and a pair of runs batted in to pace the Jets.
Game 2: Central Missouri 10, Newman 2 (5 innings)
In the Jennies 10-2, run-rule win in game two, UCM plated a combined eight runs in the third and fourth innings to break a 2-2 tie and coast to victory.
MaKenzie Cooper went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs while
Jessica Sader was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, pacing Central Missouri in the nightcap.
Gentry Wishard (4-6) tallied the victory in game two, throwing a five-inning, complete-game and allowing two earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout and walk.
Lauren Kuhrt went 2-for-2, leading Newman (11-21, 3-9 MIAA) in the second game.
