Ja'Cor Nelson posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds as the No. 8 seed Central Missouri Mules basketball team fell to the No. 9 seed Northeastern State RiverHawks, 60-49, in the first round of the MIAA Men's Basketball Championship presented by Citizens Bank & Trust Wednesday, March 2, at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City.
The Mules end their season with an overall record of 13-14 with the setback while the RiverHawks improve to 16-13 on the season and advance to the quarterfinals.
Todd, who hails from Monticello, Minn., went 6-for-11 from the field, including a 2-for-4 showing from three-point range, and 1-of-2 at the free-throw line for his team-high 15 points while Nelson went 5-of-8 from the field for his 11 points and snagged 12 boards for his team-high eighth double-double of the season.
UCM shot just 34 percent from the floor (15-for-44) but was only 13 percent from three-point range (3-of-22) and 59 percent at the free-throw line (16-of-27) in the game.
The Mules outrebounded Northeastern State, 37-30, but committed 23 turnovers and were outscored in the paint, 28-20.
The RiverHawks shot 38 percent from the field (19-for-49) and were 73 percent at the free-throw line, making 17 out of 23 attempts.
Rashad Perkins netted 13 points, pacing Northeastern State.
