DALLAS -- Central Missouri finished in 10th place at the 2022 Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic in Dallas, Texas Feb. Feb. 11-13, going 3-8 over the three-day event which included nine of the top 25-ranked teams in the country. Seventh-ranked Arkansas State University defeated host and No. 5 Louisiana Tech for the event title.
Day one included a very tough match pool play schedule with matches against No. 15 Tulane University, No. 2Â Sam Houston St. University, No. 8Â Stephen F. Austin St. University, and No. 17 Long Island University. UCM finished 0-4 on day one, averaging 175.4 during the Baker Team format.
Day two pool play switched to five-person Team Game format, with UCM fairing better with a 3-2 record against the strong tournament field. The wins came against No. 5 Louisiana Tech, Prairie View A&M University and Grambling University. Central fell by 24 pins to No. 4 Vanderbilt University and No. 21 Lincoln Memorial.
Sydney Miller finished 19th in All-Events with a 187.8 average.
Alexandria Newell (195.0) and
Norma Alicia Romero Alarid (182.5) also led the Jennies in limited roles on Saturday. Â
UCM started day three and the final match of pool play on Sunday in 8th place but fell one position after several late-match errors resulted in a 922-950 loss to No. 7 Arkansas State University. After a bye during the first round of the Baker best 4 of 7 Match Play Bracket, No. 9 seed UCM fell to No. 10Â seed Prairie View A&M University, 2-4. Central finished the tournament with a final event average of 178.3.
The Jennies are scheduled to travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the Nebraska Big Red Classic Feb. 25-27.Â
