JOPLIN, Mo. – The University of Central Missouri cross country teams competed in the MIAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin.
The Mules finished in fifth place with a total time of 2:04:02.69 earning 110 points overall highlighted by three top-20 finishers in the 8k including
Brian Mitei (fourth place overall, personal-best time of 25:56.67) who earned first-team All-MIAA honors for finishing in the top-10.
Both
Paul Korir (personal-best time of 24:33.23, 13th place overall) and
Bryan O'Barr (18
th place finish, personal-best time of 24:46.58) earned All-MIAA honorable mention accolades for their top-20 finishes.
Rounding out the scoring for Central Missouri was
Cooper Palmer (24th place, personal-best time of 24:54.47) and
Delfino Juarez (personal-best time of 25:51.74, 56th place) respectively.
On the women's side, the Jennies finished in seventh place as a team with a total time of 1:54:17.43, led by
Katie Bean (26th place overall, personal-best time of 22:22.21) and
Risper Mengich (time of 22:32.90, 36th place finish) in the 6k race.
Chloee Belgum (44th place finish, personal-best time of 22:51.36),
McKenzie Bergman (46th place finish, time of 22:58.37), and
Rylee Adams (personal-best time of 23:32.59, 65th place finish) concluded the scoring for Central Missouri.
The next meet for both teams is on Saturday, Nov. 19, for the NCAA-DII Central Regional in Joplin, Mo. at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.
