Jennies Basketball Coasts to 75-57 Win Over Northern State in Season Opener

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Brooke Littrell scored 20 points and Lauren Frost posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds leading Central Missouri Jennies basketball to a 75-57 victory over the Northern State Wolves in their 2022-23 season opener in the NSIC/MIAA Regional Challenge Friday night, Nov. 11, inside Nemzek Fieldhouse on the MSU Moorhead campus.

The Jennies (1-0) are scheduled to face the host MSU Moorhead Dragons (1-0) Saturday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m.

A redshirt sophomore from Green City, Mo., Littrell went 8-for-14 from the floor, and 2-of-4 from three-point range and at the free-throw line for her game-high 20 points. In addition to her double-double performance, Frost, a redshirt sophomore from Brooklyn Park, Minn., dished out a game-high-tying four assists and had two steals.

Olivia Nelson added 13 points and compiled a game-best-tying four assists and a game-high four steals, and Ashley Tull tallied 10 points on 50 percent shooting, wrapping up the Central Missouri leaders in the contest.

For the game, the Jennies shot 46 percent from the field (30-for-66) but were just 28 percent (5-of-18) from beyond-the-arc and 50 percent (10-of-20) at the free-throw line.

Northern State (0-1) outrebounded UCM, 46-45, but Central Missouri scored 16 points off 13 Wolf turnovers and outscored NSU in the paint, 42-28, and on fast-break points, 15-1. The Jennies committed just seven turnovers in the game while compiling nine steals and four blocks.

Rianna Fillipi netted 16 points, leading Northern State.

The Wolves were 31 percent from the field (21-of-67), 21 percent from three-point range (4-of-19) and 58 percent from the free-throw line (11-of-19) for the contest.
