WARRENSBURG, Mo. – University of Central Missouri Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
Jerry Hughes announced Friday, Jan. 28, that Mules football head coach
Jim Svoboda has resigned to take the offensive coordinator position at Tulane University in New Orleans.
"Coach Svoboda did an excellent job of leading the Mules football program for 11 seasons," Hughes said. "We are happy for him and his new opportunity at Tulane and wish him nothing but the best. We will begin the process of securing our new head football coach and hope to have someone in place in the very near future."
In his 11 seasons as the head coach of the Mules, Svoboda posted a record of 85-43 (.664), which is the second-most wins in program history.
During his time in Warrensburg, the Mules broke 108 school offensive records and 21 MIAA offensive records. He coached 28 All-Americans, including seven on the First Team, and 158 All-MIAA student-athletes, including 36 first team selections. Seven Mules earned CoSIDA Academic All-American accolades and 305 student-athletes have been named to the conference's Academic Honor Roll.
Svoboda coached the Mules to seven seasons with at least eight wins, six postseason appearances, and five postseason wins, with three NCAA-II playoff appearances.
