Westrich Wins Metropolitan Amateur Championship, Parrott Claims Kansas City Amateur Title

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- University of Central Missouri junior men's golfer Nick Westrich won the 31st annual Metropolitan Amateur Championship Saturday, Aug. 7, at St. Louis Country Club in Ladue, Mo.

Westrich won one of the largest amateur tournaments in the state of Missouri in dominating fashion, firing a 54-hole, 8-under par 205 over the three days of competition, setting a new 54-hole scoring record and lowest score to par record enroute to his victory.

The Farmington, Mo., native shot par-or-better in all three rounds of the tournament, tallying 71-66-68 to finish atop the 156-player field.

Westrich captured the Missouri Amateur Championship in 2020.

Another Mules golfer also claimed victory in a Missouri amateur championship this summer, this time on the other side of the state, as redshirt senior Sam Parrott won the Kansas City Amateur Championship August 1 at Shoal Creek Golf Course, firing a three-round 211 (70-71-70).

University of Central Missouri Mules golf is scheduled to open the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule Sept. 12-14 at the Washburn Invitational at Topeka Country Club in Topeka, Kan.
