Goodwin, Wolfekotter Set UCM Outdoor School Records

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (May 1, 2021) - In the final meet of the regular season, Central Missouri Track and Field put on a display on their home track in Warrensburg. UCM saw two outdoor school records fall from Chris Goodwin in the long jump and Madi Wulfekotter in the pole vault.

Horizontal Jumps
• Goodwin ripped off his record-setting jump on his fifth attempt. he had a mark of 25-8.75, just one-quarter of an inch better than Danny Holland from 1987. His mark is also an NCAA automatic qualifier and puts him at the top of Division II. 
• The Mules also had good performances in the long jump from Jesse Miller who was second at 23-9 and Austin Staib who was fourth jumping 22-5.25.
• Another Goodwin, Kayla Goodwin won the long jump on the women's side. She too set an outdoor personal-best jumping 19-2.75 which moves her to fifth all-time at UCM
• Nicole Johnson and Isabelle Crespo took first and second in the triple jump with Johnson jumping an outdoor PR 36-7 and Crespo right behind her at 36-6.75.

Vertical Jumps
• Madi Wulfekotter, who already owns the overall pole vault record from the indoor season, just claimed the outdoor record as well. She jumped 13-5.25 which is also an NCAA automatic qualifier. She broke the mark set by Brittany Kallenberger in 2017 by three-quarters of an inch.
• Molly Green set a personal-best in the event as well jumping 11-9.75 and Cassie Jennings finished in second place clearing 13-1.5.
• Reagan Ulrich had the top mark in the men's vault clearing 17-1.75. Jack Hodge had a new personal-best 16-10 which is an NCAA provisional qualifier and puts him seventh all-time at UCM. 
• Jesse Miller won the men's high jump clearing 6-8.75, on his first attempt at that height. That jump is an NCAA provisional qualifier and season-best for Miller.
• Cade Conley and Carter Bell each tied for fifth jumping 6-3.5.
• Alissa Barkalow led the Jennies high jumpers with a fourth place finish and outdoor personal-best 4-11.75.

Throws
• There were plenty of personal-bests in the throws. Starting in the shot put where Ashlan Burton threw a season-best 51-9 to win the event. That mark would rank second coming into the meet. Alisha Straws set an outdoor personal-best throwing 48-4.5 which boosts her to fourth all-time at UCM as she finished second.
• Straws then set a personal-best in the discus, placing second with a throw of 162-3.5. Burton took third throwing 161-3. Abby Vogel was ninth in the event, throwing a personal-best 151-8.25 which put her ninth in Jennies history. It was a personal-best by more than 25 feet. 
• Vogel also set a personal-best in the hammer throw tossing it 141-8.75 to place ninth. Rachael Molloy finished second for the Jennies throwing 181-8.75 and Ashlan Burton was third in 173-8.75. 
• Brandi VanBlarcum had a second-place finish in the javelin throwing 128-7.5. Kayla Goodwin was fourth at 112-9.5
• Mule throwers also had a good day. Justin Dannar took sixth in the discus throwing 161-10.5 and Ruben Varnado had a 10.5 foot personal-best throwing 161-0.25 for seventh place.
• Jacob Tsikoyak and Justin Dannar went back-to-back in 12th and 13th place in the hammer throw. Tsikoyak threw 150-6.25 and Dannar 149-11.25. 
• Michael Waldron had a personal-best in the javelin throwing 178-6.25 for fourth place. 

Sprints/Hurdles
• For the Mules it was the Antonio Lay show as he won both the 100m and 200m dashes. Lay ran 10.53 to take first in the 100m and a personal-best 21.15 to win the 200m. That puts him in seventh place in Mules history. UCM had six place in the top-10 in the 200m. Jake Sanders was fourth (22.27),  Garrett Francis sixth (22.60), Colby Stein eighth (22.97), Trent Davis ninth (23.18) and Calaway McQueeny 10th (23.49). All six also ran personal-best times.
• Also running a personal-best was Tanner Skotnicki in the 400m. He took fourth place running 49.39.
• UCM had the top-three finishers in the men's 110m hurdles. Brett Shaffer won in 15.02, Andrew Paster was second in 15.03 and Garrett Francis third in 15.07. Shaffer also won the 400m hurdles in 54.19. 
• Laia Gonzalez and Hannah VanBuskirk finished first and second in the 100m hurdles. Gonzalez ran 14.22 and VanBuskirk 15.08 for a personal-best.
• Destiney Nash was the winner of the women's 100m dash. She ran 12.18. Nash also led the Jennies 200m squad running a personal-best 24.75 for second place. Laia Gonzalez was fifth in the race running 25.59 and Camryn Holloman sixth in 25.69.
• Taylor Larson took fifth place in the 400m dash running 1:01.10 while Libby Brown was fifth in the 400m hurdles in 1:05.91 for a personal-best. 

Distance
• Central Missouri won the 3,000m on both the men's and women's side. Kenzie Bergman won running 10:44.71. Risper Mengich was third in 10:56.89 and Sami Skibell fourth in 11:21.54. Nick Victor won for the Mules running 8:59.19 which is an outdoor personal-best. Zach Adams took second in 9:11.27 and Jared Mentz ran 9:15.74 for third place. 
• Kimberlee Sewester was the second place finisher in the 1500m for the Jennies. She ran 5:09.44. Makenzie Stucker was third running a personal-best 5:13.04.
• Denzel Kiptoo also gave UCM a second place finisher in the 1500m. He ran 4:06.96. Alex Kirk wasn't far behind running 4:11.04 for third place.
• Mariah Elmore and Adam McCauley each took third place in the 800m. Elmore ran 2:15.83. Hope Thiel was fifth in a personal-best 2:23.67. McCauley ran 2:02.40 and Mitch Brock was fourth running 2:11.40.

Central Missouri is back on the track next weekend for the MIAA Championships in Pittsburg, Kan. May 8-9.
