WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 24, 2021) - Central Missouri Mules Football finished off the spring in style, coming back for a 41-38 win over Northern State.
The scrimmage was the second of two for the Mules this spring. Last weekend they went against Augustana in a joint practice and situational scrimmage. Saturday more closely resembled an actual game.
The Mules got down early and trailed the Wolves 24-10 at the end of the first half. A 31-yard touchdown rush in the third from
Christian Davis brought the Mules to within a score, but the Wolves responded with a touchdown of their own for a 31-17 lead with 5:50 left to play in the third.
After a UCM touchdown made it a seven-point game, the Mules turned an interception into three points getting a field goal to get within four, 31-27, with 13:32 remaining.
The Mules finally grabbed the lead as
Logan Twehous found
Cameron Saunders for a touchdown, putting UCM on top 34-31. JD Kolb gave the Mules a 41-31 lead with 7:14 remaining on rushing score and the Mules went on to win 41-38.
This concludes the spring season for Mules Football. All eyes turn to the fall now where the first game of the 2021 season is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2 at home against Pittsburg State.
