WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 16, 2021) - On an afternoon and evening featuring on and off rain, sometimes a steady rain, Central Missouri Track and Field toughened up and competed well despite the rain and cold, picking up eight event wins.
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
• Starting on the track with the 100m dash.
Antonio Lay picked up the win running 10.65. It was a tight race as Lay won by just .02 seconds.
• The Mules also had a top-five finish in the 200m dash as
Jake Sanders came in fifth place running 22.85.
•
Garrett Francis led the Mules in the 400m dash running a personal-best 50.82 for ninth place. He also finished second in the 110m hurdles in 15.35.
•
Brett Shaffer led the prelims of the 110m hurdles running 15.22, but did not compete in finals. He was also the Mules top finisher in the 400m hurdles running 55.64.
• For the Jennies,
Kayla Goodwin had the fastest time in the 100m hurdle prelims. She ran 14.85 but did not compete in finals. That allowed
Libby Brown to finish in third place running 15.28. Brown also set a personal-best in the 200m dash running 26.22 for third place.

Lenetta Lee and
Camryn Holloman each made their UCM outdoor debut. Holloman placed third in the 200m dash running 26.11 and Lee was 12th in the 100m dash n 13.13.
•
Taylor Larson took sixth place in the 400m dash running 1:00.21.
• Both the Mules and Jennies 4x400m relay team finished second. The Mules team of
Isaak Rasche, Sanders, Shaffer and
Adam McCauley ran 3:23.11. The Jennies ran 4:11.12 with the team of Brown, Goodwin, Larson and
Alexis Sroor.
Distance
• The cooler temperatures made for some nice distance running conditions and UCM took advantage.
Mariah Elmore set a new personal-best in the 1500m running 4:45.85, just shy of the UCM all-time top-10 in the event, to place fourth. She was also fourth in the 800m running 2:19.35.
• Five Jennies set personal-bests in the 1500m, including
Kimberlee Sewester who broke 5:00 for the first time running 4:56.90.

Lilian Busienei set a PR in the 3,000m steeplechase and moved up the UCM all-time top-10 list. She won the race by almost 30 seconds in 10:54.18 which is an NCAA provisional qualifier and third all-time at UCM.
Karynn Carroll was fifth in the event running a personal-best 12:10.10.
•
Jared Mentz gave UCM two steeplechase winners. He won the race in a personal-best 9:36.29.
•
Makenzie Stucker led the Jennies 5K efforts finishing 19th in a deep field at 19:06.70 while Justin Glasstetter ran 16:42.76 in the event and
Nathan Manning ran a personal-best 17:28.23.
• The men and women combined the 10K race. Makenzie Bergman ran the race for the first time at UCM and finished second for the women in 38:49.28.
Zach Adams was fourth the Mules running 31:37.98.
•
Derek Nugent was the top-finisher for UCM in the men's 800m race. He finished in 1:56.72 for fourth place.
Aaron Westhoff was just short of a PR in the 1500m placing seventh in 4:03.77.
Jumps
•
Kayla Goodwin won a pair of jumping events. She took first place in the triple jump with a mark of 41-4.25. She was also first in the high jump clearing 5-1.
Alissa Barkalow was second in the high jump clearing an outdoor personal-best 4-11.
• UCM also had event winners in the men's and women's pole vault.
Madi Wulfekotter jumped an outdoor personal-best 13-2.25 in the pole vault.
Cassie Jennings was third for the Jennies at 12-4.5. Both
Jan Jansky and
Reagan Ulrich cleared 16-5.5 in the men's vault to finish first and second. Jan took first place based on number of attempts.
• Chris Goodwin won the long jump with a mark of 24-0.25 and
Austin Staib was second at 22-5.25.
• In the men's high jump, Carter bell cleared a personal-best 6-2.75 to place second overall.
Cade Conley,
Jesse Miller and
Garrett Francis each jumped 6-0.75.
Throws
•
Ashlan Burton won another shot put competition throwing 49-0.75. She also took second in the discus at 154-7. Both of those marks are NCAA provisional qualifiers. Her throw of 170-6 was good for fourth place and just shy of a third NCAA provo mark.
•
Rachael Molloy hit a PR in the hammer throw for the Jennies and moved up to third all-time with her throw of 185-4.
•
Brandi VanBlarcum finished in second place in the javelin throwing 131-7.
• For the Mules
Trenton Flug had a big personal-best in the javelin throwing 174-11, improving by almost 14 feet.
Michael Waldron was third throwing 168-8 and
Kyle Schilling sixth at 145-10, a new personal-best.
•
Addison Snowball competed in three throwing events. He was seventh in the shot put throwing 51-3.75. Then he matched a PR in the discus throwing 161-0 for sixth place and he set a PR in the hammer with a toss of 165-11.
Central Missouri has two meets on their schedule for next week. A handful will travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the famous Drake Relays Friday-Saturday April 23-24. Others will compete at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up April 24.
