ST. CHARLES, Mo. (March 23, 2021) - Mules Golf continued to dominate through the final round of the Lindenwood Invitational to earn their second championship title of the season. Central Missouri finished with a 54-hole total of -16, 836, outshooting the runner-ups of the invitational by 28 strokes.
Mules golf finished opening day of the Lindenwood Invitational with a 22 stroke lead and increased that lead by six strokes in the final 18. Central Missouri led every round shooting -2, 282 through the first 18 holes, -10, 274 through the second, and shot a final round score of -4, 280. All of the Mules finished in the invitational's top-15 individually, led by
Matt Hoemann with a second-place finish.
The invitational's runner-up Hoemann led the Mules with a three round total of -4, 209 (71, 70, 68). Hoemann shot a round-low -3, 68 to move up five spots after finishing opening day tied for seventh. One stroke behind Hoemann was
Nick Westrich in third-place. After sitting in second through rounds one and two, Westrich shot an even 71 in his final round to finish with a 54-hole total of -3, 210 (69, 70, 71).
Thomas Henson led the Mules opening day shooting a team-low -5, 137 through rounds one and two. Henson shot a 74 in the third and final round to earn a fourth-place finish with a total score of -2, 211.
Also finishing in the top-10 was
Ian Barnes. After sitting in 12th through rounds one and two he moved up three spots to finish ninth with a total score of 214 (77, 67, 70).
Sam Parrott recorded his lowest score of the invitational in the final round to finish 11th with a 54-hole score of 217 (72, 74, 71).
Central Missouri shot the best average score on every hole. The Mules also led with 172 pars and six eagles, and tied Findlay for the most birdies with 47. Westrich led all 69 golfers on par threes, Hoemann led the invitational on pr fours, and Henson led on par fives. Barnes led the Mules with 41 pars while Henson recorded the team-high three eagles. Hoemann, Westrich and Parrott each recorded 11 birdies.
Central Missouri's
Cole Elling golfed unattached in the invitational. He recorded a 54-hole total of -1, 212 (69, 73, 70) to tie for fifth.
Mules golf returns to action next week to compete in the NSIC Invitational. The two-day event begins on Monday, March 29th at the Shoel Creek Golf Club and plays through Tuesday, March 30th.
