Pole Vault
• The Jennies got two into the national meet in the pole vault in
Cassie Jennings and
Madi Wulfekotter. Jennings was the last entry accepted, but proved you just need to get in to make an impact. Both Jennings and Wulfekotter jumped 13-3.5 to earn All-American awards. Wulfekotter finished third and Jennings fifth due to number of attempts. Jennings entered at 12-5 and made three bars, matching her personal-best. Wulfekotter made her first bar, 13-3.5 after passing the first two.
• In the men's pole vault Saturday,
Vincent Hobbie entered as the reigning national champion from 2019. He jumped 16-11.5 and finished third in the competition, earning his third All-American award. Hobbie has been an All-American and top-three finisher in all three national meets he's competed in.
• Competing alongside Hobbie in his first national meet was
Reagan Ulrich. Ulrich cleared 16-7.5 to finish in fifth place and earn his first career All-American award.
Jumps
• Central Missouri had four compete in the jumps on day two. A Mule and Jennie each in the high jump and long jump. In the long jump, Chris Goodwin came up with a big final jump, 24-10 a new personal-best to improve from fourth place to second. He was passed by the national champion from Lincoln on his final jump and took third place in the competition.
•
Kayla Goodwin came back from yesterday's multi to compete in the long jump as well. Goodwin's best jump was her first when she had a mark of 18-9.25. She was first out of finals and finished 10th.
• Also back from the pentathlon was
Hannah VanBuskirk in the high jump. She picked up her second All-American award of the meet and fourth of her career placing sixth clearing 5-7.25. She made three bars coming in at 5-4.25. There was a six way tie at that bar with VanBuskirk netting two team points for the Jennies.
•
Jesse Miller for the men was unable to get over his opening height bar and had a no-height.
• The final day was for the triple jump. The Mules had two and the Jennies one.
• Both Chris Goodwin and
Jesse Miller competed in their second jumping event of the meet. Goodwin, an All-American in the long jump earlier in the meet, was one spot away from his second All-American award. He placed ninth jumping 48-10.75.
• Miller jumped 48-4.5 on his final attempt, but was one place out of finals, finishing in 10th place.
•
Kayla Goodwin competed on all three days of the national meet, earning an All-American in two events. On day three, she placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 40-11.5.
Shot Put
•
Ashlan Burton released a big throw, 51-10 in the third round and that carried her through to a second place finish and her second All-American award.
•

• Gonzalez came back later in the evening to run on the Jennies 4x400m relay team. She joined Alex Foote,
Hope Thiel and
Destiney Nash to run 3:50.94 as the team placed seventh.
Multis
The multi events were held Friday on day one.
Hannah VanBuskirk and
Kayla Goodwin finished back-to-back in the pentathlon in fourth and fifth place. They each set personal-bests and moved up the UCM all-time rankings. VanBuskirk scored 3887 points which puts her fifth all-time at UCM and Goodwin moved from 10th to seventh after scoring 3843 points.
VanBuskirk had a very strong day. She started out running 8.77 in the 60m hurdles, one one-hundreth of a second off of her lifetime best. She then came close to another PR, jumping 18-3 in the long jump before throwing 34-0.75 in the shot put. Unsurprisingly, VanBuskirk's best event was the high jump, which she will also compete in later this weekend. She set a new PR jumping 5-9.25. That puts her in a tie for fifth-place all-time at UCM. Having already won the high jump competition, VanBuskirk was the only jumper at 5-9.25 and made the bar on her final attempt. VanBuskirk was in second place after four events heading to the 800m run where she ran 2:27.15. That dropped her to fourth place, one point behind the third place finisher. This is VanBuskirk's third All-American award and first in the pentathlon.
Goodwin was very solid across the board as well. She opened her meet running 8.88 in the 60m hurdles and jumped 18-10 in the long jump, third best in the competition. Goodwin then won the shot put throwing 38-6.25, half an inch off a lifetime best. She also nearly matched a PR in the high jump clearing 5-2.25. Goodwin was sixth heading into the final event. She ran a 2:23.20 800m, her fastest at UCM, and moved up into a fifth place finish. This is the first All-American award for the freshman.
