WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 19, 2021) - The University of Central Missouri Track and Field teams had their final meet before the MIAA Championships. The Mules and Jennies competed at home at the UCM Classic hitting eight NCAA qualifying marks and winning 17 events.
Sprints/Relays
•
Antonio Lay ran a season-best 6.85 in winning the 60m dash.
Kyzer Ramey broke seven seconds for the first time in the prelims running 6.98. He finished third in the finals in 7.04.
•
Johnnie Ray Hayes ran a personal-best 7.19 and finished fifth.
•
Isaak Rasche led the Mules in the 200m finishing third in 23.58.
Colby Stein was fourth in 23.61 and
Elliott Anderson fifth in 24.20.
•
Derek Nugent set a big personal-best in the 600 yard run. He ran 1:13.85 to win the race.
Adam McCauley also set a PR running 1:15.09 to place second.
•
Grace Wormek led the Jennies short sprinters. She finished sixth running 8.15 in the finals after going 8.02 in the prelims. She was also fourth in the 200m dash running 26.97.
•
Camryn Holloman set a personal-best 7.86 in the prelims which was fourth, but did not start the finals.
•
Destiney Nash and Alex Foote finished first and second in the 200m dash. Nash ran 26.05 and Foote a personal-best 26.22.
•
Hannah VanBuskirk ran her first ever open 400m race. She took second in 1:01.64.
•
Hope Thiel set a personal-best running 1:26.29 in the 600 yard.
Hurdles
• Jennies hurdlers sent four to finals.
Kayla Goodwin was the top finisher running 8.97 to place second.
Hannah VanBuskirk was third in 8.99.
Libby Brown ran a personal-best 9.07 to place fourth.
Laia Gonzalez had the top time in the prelims running 8.93, but hit a hurdle in the finals and finished sixth in 9.71
• The Mules also had three hurdlers advance to the finals.
Trey Miller had the fastest time in the prelims running 8.50. He finished third in the finals running 8.57.
Brett Shaffer placed second in 8.56 and
Andrew Paster was fourth in 8.62.
Jumps
• The Mules took 1-3 in the long jump. Chris Goodwin was the winner jumping 24-3.
Austin Staib was second jumping a personal-best 22-4.5.
•
Jeremi Barnes was the only athlete in the men's triple jump. He jumped 46-3.25.
•
Cade Conley and
Carter Bell each jumped 6-2.25 in the high jump to finish first and second. The mark is a personal-best for Bell.
• For the Jennies,
Nicole Johnson finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 35-1.25. She was also fifth jumping 16-4.25 in the long jump.
•
Camryn Holloman took second in the long jump hitting 17-11.75 and
Hannah VanBuskirk third in 17-10.25.
Isabelle Crespo jumped a personal-best 16-10 in the event.
•
Alissa Barkalow cleared 5-0.5 in the high jump to place second and set a new personal-best.
Pole Vault
• A week after setting a new record in the women's pole vault,
Madi Wulfekotter was back at it again. She jumped 13-6.25 which is an NCAA automatic qualifier and won the event.
Cassie Jennings took second in 12-10.25.
•
Vincent Hobbie returned after missing the previous three weeks for the Mules. He too won the vault, clearing 16-7.25 on his final attempt.
• UCM multi-event athletes also competed in the vault.
Trey Miller (13-9.75) and
Calaway McQueeny (14-3.5) each set personal-bests.
Throws
•
Rachael Molloy continued to set personal-bests in the weight throw. She won the event throwing 58-4 which is an NCAA provisional qualifying throw and moves her to fourth all-time at UCM.
•
Baylie Bellin (49-0.25) and
Abby Vogel (45-3.5) finished seventh and eighth in the event and each set personal-bests.
• The Jennies had the top-two finishers in the shot put.
Ashlan Burton threw a season-best and NCAA automatic qualifying throw 52-1.75.
Alisha Straws also hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark throwing 47-1. Three Jennies also set personal-bests in the event,
Hannah VanBuskirk (35-5.75),
Lauren Nelson (33-7.5) and Makenzie Rademacher (33-7.25).
• Mule throwers were led by
Addison Snowball. He won the shot put throwing 55-5.5 which is an NCAA provisional qualifying throw and puts him 10th all-time at UCM. He also finished third in the weight throw with a personal-best 57-10.25.
•
Trey Miller (42-5.5) and
Trent Davis (38-1.5) set personal-bests in the shot put.
• Owen Stabb threw 52-0 to place fifth in the weight throw.
Distance
•
Mariah Elmore was the winner in the mile. She ran 5:12.52.
Sami Skibell took fourth in 5:31.44 and
Kimberlee Sewester fifth in 5:32.17.
• Sewester was also the Jennies top finisher in the 800m. She ran 2:27.69 to finish fifth.
• A week after winning the 5K at Pittsburg State,
Cynthia Togom was the winner of the 3K. She ran 10:08.41.
•
Lilian Busienei ran a personal-best 10:25.42 which puts her ninth all-time at UCM. Makenzie Bergman also set a PR running 10:42.56.
•
Alex Kirk finished third in both the 800m and the mile runs. He started his day running 4:44.61 in the mile and finished with a 2:07.71 in the 800m.
•
Jared Mentz was the winner of the men's mile. He ran 4:35.55.
Mitch Brock ran a personal-best 4:43 to place second.
•
Nick Victor was just shy of a personal-best winning the men's 3,000m in 8:45.85.
Zach Adams (8:51.48) and
Denzel Kiptoo (8:59.52) were also under nine minutes and finished second and third.
UCM Track and Field will compete next week at the MIAA Championships in Topeka, Kan. The first MIAA Championship of the 2020-21 season.
Mules
Jennies
