PITTSBURG, Kan. (Feb. 13, 2021) - It's been three weeks since UCM Track and Field competed, but once they got back on the track, it was like they never left. At the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic, UCM picked up 10 event winners, nine NCAA qualifiers and a new school record.
Pole Vault
• We'll start with the school record.
Madi Wulfekotter set it on just her second jump of the day, clearing 13-4.25. That mark broke teammate
Cassie Jennings record of 13-3.5 which she set just last year. But Wulfekotter wasn't finished. After failing at her first two attempts at 13-8.25, Wulfekotter cleared the mark on her third attempt, bettering her mark and setting not only a Jennies indoor record, but an overall school record, indoors and outdoors. The jump is also an NCAA automatic qualifier and ties the best jump in the nation heading into the weekend.
• It wasn't all Wulfekotter though on the vault.
Cassie Jennings finished third and jumped a season-best 13-0.25. Molly Green also set a personal-best clearing 11-0.75 placing eighth.
• For the Mules vaulters,
Reagan Ulrich took second place clearing 15-11.25 and Callaway McQueeny was fifth at 13-7.75.Â
Jumps
• Day one saw Chris Goodwin set a personal-best jumping 24-9 in the long jump. Although Goodwin took six attempts, he needed just one to set the personal-best, hitting the mark on his first jump. That distances moves him to fourth all-time at UCM in the event and is among the leaders in the country heading into the weekend. Goodwin came back on day two to win the triple jump, setting another PR and hitting an NCAA provisional qualifier. Goodwin jumped 49-3 to win the event.Â
• Goodwin wasn't the only Mule in the top-five in the long jump.Â
Trey Miller finished third jumping 23-5.5 andÂ
Trent Davis was fifth matching a personal-best 21-8.25 on his final jump of the day.Â
Calaway McQueeny was right behind Davis in sixth with a mark of 21-2.75 andÂ
