WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 19, 2019) - It was another wild game for Central Missouri Mules Baseball (27-12, 18-8 MIAA) Friday afternoon at Crane Stadium. Once again, the Mules found themselves in an early hole, but their never-say-attitude kept them in the game until the very last out.
Play-by-Play
• The game started with a ceremonial first pitch from newly inaugurated University President Dr. Roger Best.Â
• For the second straight game, the Mules scored in the first inning. It wasn't a leadoff home run like last night, but it counted just the same.
Alex Madera was able to walk home after a balk forced him in.
• UCM made it 2-0 when
Mason Janvrin snuck a two-out single up the middle to score
Donovan Ditto.
• In the third is when the Bearcats found their footing. They scored three in the inning to take a 3-2 lead despite only picking up one hit in the inning.Â
•
Erik Webb tied the game at three in the first at-bat in the home half of the inning. He connected for a long ball to left on a full count.
• One hit tied it for the Mules, and one untied it for the Bearcats in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Connor Quick cleared them all with a grand slam to right and Northwest was back on top again, 7-3.
• The score stayed that way until the seventh. With the bases loaded and one out, a sacrifice fly from
Cole Taylor brought in pinch-runner Zach Ehlen.Â
• That was followed up with a two-out, two-RBI single from
Josh Schumacher and a double to right center from
Mason Janvrin to tie the game.
• Northwest loaded the bases in the eighth before the Mules recorded an out. They got the next three, but a run came across on a ground-out and the Bearcats went back up by one, 8-7.
• UCM quickly responded as Webb led off the bottom of the inning with a triple and
Harrison Schnurbusch brought him in with a single to center.
•
Jonathan Sprinkle worked a 1-2-3 ninth and on a 3-1 pitch,
Cole Taylor ended the game with a long home run to right leading off the bottom of the ninth.
