Jennies Head to Sooner State for MIAA Doubleheaders

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 10, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Softball hits the road this week as they continue MIAA play.

No. 2 Central Oklahoma (31-3, 13-1 MIAA)
Northeastern State (20-19, 8-6 MIAA)

On the Air
• Both sets of doubleheaders will be broadcast live on the MIAA Network which can be accessed using the UCM BlueFrame portal page at www.theMIAANetwork.com/ucmmules. There will also be live stats available for both games.

Leading Off
• Central Missouri Softball will head back out for a pair of MIAA doubleheader this weekend. 
• The schedule has been altered slightly and the Jennies will play Central Oklahoma Thursday, April 11 and Northeastern State Friday, April 12. 
• This past Tuesday, Central Missouri went 1-1 on the road at Pittsburg State.
• The Jennies are 4-4 in their last eight games, 4-2 in MIAA games and stand at 23-13 overall and 9-3 in the MIAA.
• Just past the midway point in the MIAA season, the Jennies are 3rd in the league.
• Central Missouri was picked to finish third in the 2019 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll. The Jennies tallied 141 points in the poll.
• 2019 will mark the 48th season of Jennies softball. It will also be the 13th season under the direction of Head Coach Susan Anderson.

Quick Hits
Anderson vs. the Bronchos/RiverHawks

• During her time at UCM, Coach Anderson is 7-12 against Central Oklahoma. The Jennies swept the Bronchos at home last year snapping three-game losing streak. Against the RiverHawks, the Jens are 10-8 under Coach Anderson. The Jennies had won four straight before falling 5-3 in the MIAA Tournament last year. 

Last Time Out
• The Jennies split with Pittsburg State on the road Tuesday. UCM lost a nine-inning game 6-5 before coming from behind to take game two, 6-2.

Milestones
Alexa Bradley is at 88 career appearances. With one more she'll make the UCM all-time top-five. She also needs 11 more innings to make the UCM top-10. 
Lauryn Deer is just 2 hits away from 150. She'd be the 25th Jennie to ever reach that milestone. 
• Deer is also moving up the all-time stolen base list. She has 56 which is sixth all-time and 11 away from the top-five.

MIAA Leaders
Lauryn Deer is third in the MIAA with 49 hits. She is also tied for the league lead with 20 stolen bases. 
• Right behind Deer in stolen bases is Ashlyn Cook who is second with 16.
Hailey Crabtree's six triples are the most in the MIAA. 
• Now that she has enough innings to qualify, Gentry Wishard leads the MIAA with a 1.76 ERA and .222 batting average against. 
Alexa Bradley is sixth in the league with a 2.82 ERA. 
• As a team, the Jennies are third in the MIAA with a .323 batting average and fourth with a 3.45 ERA. 

Finishing Strong
• The Jennies have been red hot in the latter part of games of late. They've scored 30 runs in the sixth inning and are outscoring opponents 12-3 in the seventh inning.
• They scored seven runs in the sixth inning or later in their four MIAA games last week. The Jennies scored five runs in the fifth inning in game two to come from behind to defeat Pittsburg State.
• The Jennies haven't lost a game yet this season when leading after four innings as they are 14-0. They're also 18-0 when leading after six innings. 

Do it with Two
• The Jennies have picked up 59 two-out RBI's this season. Ashlyn Cook leads the team with 13 and Jessica Sader has 10.
• UCM is doing a good job of extending innings. They are hitting .312 as a team with two outs. Lauryn Deer is batting .410 and Ashlyn Cook is up to .412 with 14 hits in 34 at bats.
• Jennies pitchers are closing out innings, as opponents are hitting just .227 with two outs. 

Who's Hot
Jessica Sader is hitting .364 in her last 22 at bats. 
Hailey Crabtree has driven in six runs in her last six games. 
Jordan Johnson has a 2.27 ERA in her last 12.1 innings pitched, all out of the bullpen. 
Taylor Dames had the first two home run game of her career last weekend.

Free Softball
• Before game two Tuesday, the Jennies had played three straight extra inning games and two nine-inning affairs. 
• This season, UCM is 4-1 in extra inning games. 
• Their three one-run, extra inning wins last week gives them a winning record in one-run games at 5-4. 

Up Next
• The Jennies will be home for three doubleheaders next week. They'll start things Tuesday, April 16 with a nonconference doubleheader with Truman State.

Scouting the Opposition
No. 2 Central Oklahoma

• Central Oklahoma is the No. 2 ranked team in the country by the NFCA. They are 31-3 overall and 13-1 in the MIAA.
• Fort Hays State tripped them up in a conference game last week for their only MIAA loss thus far.
• The Bronchos have a run differential of 156. They are outscoring opponents by more than four and a half runs per game.
• UCO is leading the league in nearly every offensive and pitching category. They have a .353 team batting average and a .436 on base percentage. The only team in the MIAA with an on base percentage above .400.
• Three starters are hitting above .400 led by Lexy Dobson's .407 average. 
• JoBi Heath is leading the MIAA with 46 runs batted in. She has 20 doubles and six home runs.
• Carli Jones also shares the team lead with six long balls
• In the circle, Bailey McKittrick and Sydney McLeod are the primary starters. McKittrick is 16-1 with a 1.91 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 99 innings. McLeod has a 2.04 ERA and a 13-2 record.
• Lauren Gibson has also made 15 appearances and five starts with a 3.96 ERA.
• The Bronchos have a .962 fielding percentage which is fifth in the MIAA. 

Northeastern State
• Northeastern State is mired in a six game losing streak. They are 20-19 overall and have an 8-6 conference record.
• Jess Schuler is the team's leading hitter with a .324 average. She's also got five home runs and a team-best 28 RBI.
• Sierra Crick is leading the team going 12-12 in stolen base attempts.
• Defensively, NSU has a .962 fielding percentage. 
• The RiverHawks are hitting .276 as a team.
• In the circle, NSU has a 3.84 team ERA.
• Gail Young has been the team's most effective pitcher with a 2.87 ERA and a 12-7 record in 21 games pitched. She also has 74 strikeouts.
• Sydney Balderrama has started 15 games and is 7-8 with a 4.14 ERA.
