WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Mar. 1, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball won two games over Northeastern State Friday afternoon in two very different way. The Mules ran away in game one of the doubleheader 16-0, before needing runs in the eighth and ninth innings of game two for a 4-3 walk-off win. The wins move UCM to 11-5 this season and 5-1 in the MIAA.
Game 2 - Central Missouri 4, Northeastern State 3
Play-by-Play
• Northeastern State got the scoring started in the second inning with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single up the middle.
• The RiverHawks made it 3-0 after back-to-back two-out doubles in the third.
•
Zak Whalin got UCM on the board in the bottom half of the inning, leading off the third with a solo blast to left.
•
Erik Webb made it a one-run game in the sixth with an RBI single.
Alex Madera tried to score the tying run from second on the play, but was thrown out from center.
• The Mules still looked poised to tie or take the lead in the sixth with the bases loaded and one out, but a strikeout and a groundout ended the inning with the RiverHawks up 3-2.
• Two innings later it was Webb again. This time doing things all on his own, lifted an 0-1 pitch over the fence in right center for a game-tying solo homer.

Jonathan Sprinkle worked around a one-out single in the top of the ninth, to give UCM a chance to win it.Â

John Prudhom started the inning with a walk and an error on
Micah Evans' bunt put two on with one out.
Donovan Ditto moved the runners up with a sacrifice before
Zak Whalin found some space down the right field line for the game winning hit.
Mules Stat Leaders
• Whalin, the hero, finished the game 2-4 with a single, home run and two RBI.
•
Jonathan Sprinkle earned the win out of the bullpen pitching three scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
• Webb also went 2-4 with two RBI a home run and a run scored.
•
Alex Madera picked up two hits.
•
Mason Janvrin had a single, stole a base and scored a run.
•
Brady Gavin got the start and threw the first 4.1 innings giving up three runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Coby Seiz pitched 1.2 hitless innings in relief with a punch out.
For the RiverHawks
• Jonathan Smiley took the no decision on the mound despite giving up just two runs on five hits in 5.1 innings.
• Wes O'Neill was 2-4 with a run and and RBI.
• Colton Burgess scored twice with a double and a walk.
• Trevor Smith escaped the sixth inning with the bases loaded, but took the loss in the ninth. He allowed two runs on one hit in three innings.Â
Game One - Central Missouri 16, Northeastern State 0
Play-by-Play
• Central Missouri manufactured a run in the first inning. With two outs,
Erik Webb singled, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on
Michael Sinks' single on an 0-2 pitch.
• The second inning is when the wheels fell off from Northeastern State. The Mules scored seven runs on six hits. The first two came in on back-to-back RBI singles from
Alex Madera and
Erik Webb.
Michael Sinks then cleared the bases with a double.
Cole Taylor drove home Sinks with a triple and scored on
Micah Evans' infield single as the Mules went up 8-0.
• Turns out, the Mules weren't done. They tacked on a run in the third with a bases loaded walk, before hanging up more crooked numbers in the fourth and fifth.
•
Donovan Ditto laced a triple to right to bring home Evans and he came in to score on
Cole Hoover's sacrfice fly for an 11-0 lead.
• The Mules were finally done scoring in the fifth, but not before adding five more runs to their total.
John Raybourn's pinch hit RBI single drove in Webb. Evans followed with a double to center and Ditto drove home two with a single to left.
Mason Janvrin's sacrifice fly capped the scoring at 16-0.
Mules Stat Leaders

Mason Green started and didn't allow a run in five innings, giving up three hits while striking out five.
•
Tyler Hasper kept the shutout in tact with two hitless innings in relief and four strikeouts.Â

Michael Sinks drove in four runs on two hits.
•
Micah Evans picked up two more doubles and finished 4-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
•
Donovan Ditto picked up two RBI on two hits and scored three times.
•
Erik Webb reached base four times with a single, walk, two hit-by-pitches and scored three runs.
For the RiverHawks
• Blake Freeman was 2-3.
• Colton Burgess picked up the third RiverHawk hit.
• Dustin Berrong started and struck out six, but allowed nine runs on eight hits.Â

• Central Missouri runs its win streak to a season-best six games.
• The Mules are 7-0 when playing as the home team.
• All nine Mules collected a hit in game one.

Erik Webb collected career RBI number 100. He also extends his hitting streak to 15 games.Â

Micah Evans now shares the MIAA lead with seven.
• Game one was the first shutout win for the Mules this season.
• UCM had scored 10+ runs in four straight games before game two's 4-3 win.
