WARRENSBURG, Mo. (March 6, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball is making a habit of dramatic wins of late. For the second straight game, UCM produced a 4-3 walk-off win, this time over Drury.
Play-by-Play
• MIAA Hitter of the Week
Erik Webb picked up where he left off last week. He drove the first pitch he saw over the field in left for a solo home run and after one it was 1-0 Mules.
•
Collin Jones kept the Panthers off the scoreboard for three innings. He got an insurance run in the third when
Mason Janvrin drove home
Zack Ehlen with a sacrifice fly.
• Drury tied the game in the fourth though. A leadoff error followed by back-to-back walks loaded the bases with no outs. Jones got the ground ball he was looking for and the defense turned a 6-4-3 double-play as a run crossed the plate. One batter later, the Panthers tied it as a single fell in right just in front of a diving Webb.
• The Panthers took the lead in the fifth after an infield single started the inning. A wild pitch moved the runner to second and a single in shallow center made it a 3-2 Panther lead.
• Both bullpens were lights out and no one sniffed another run as the game wore on. With two outs in the eighth, pinch hitter
Cole Hoover thought he tied the game with a two-out home run, but the long fly hooked just foul for a loud strike. He grounded out to end the inning and send the Mules to the ninth trailing 3-2.
• Down to their final at bat,
Mason Janvrin started things with a single to left.
Alex Madera moved him up with a sacrifice bunt and
Erik Webb singled up the middle to score Janvrin from second. After Webb stole second,
Michael Sinks split the outfielders in left center on a 1-2 pitch as Webb scored the winning run.
