Janvrin to Coach Team USA at Thorpe Cup

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (July 13, 2018) – Central Missouri co-Head Track and Field Coach Kip Janvrin will be the men's team coach at the 2018 Thorpe Cup, held in Knoxville, Tenn. July 27-28.

The Thorpe Cup is an international track and field competition between USA and Germany, with teams of seven men and seven women competing in the decathlon and heptathlon. While the name "Thorpe Cup" was first used in 2007, there has been an international multi-event competition between the USA and Germany each year since 1993.

This is Janvrin's second time coaching USA athletes in international competition. In 2012, he coached the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) under-23 team in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Janvrin is a Thorpe Cup veteran, having competed eight times. He set a personal-best with 8,462 points in 1996, and led team USA to the highest five-man team score in Thorpe Cup history (40,607).
