Grapplers Set for Tough Road Test Against McKendree and Lindenwood

• Central Missouri Mules Wrestling is back on the road  for back-to-back duals. The Mules will battle a pair of in-region opponents in the McKendree Bearcats and the Lindenwood Lions this Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 30 and 31. Mat action begins at 7 p.m. for both duals.
• The Mules will look to snap a six-dual losing streak. Their last dual win came back on Jan. 9, 24-20, against the Newman Jets. Since the start of the New Year, UCM has battled in 10 duals, with six coming against top-25 opponents.
• UCM competed in its first home dual of the season last week against MIAA foe Nebraska-Kearney. UCM rallied late against UNK, but did not complete the comeback and ultimately fell 27-14.
• The Mules got four individual wins against the Lopers. Kaleb Warner led the way with six points as he pinned defending national champion Keith Surber in 4:48 at 149 pounds.
• UCM's other three wins against UNK came from Jesse Reser (165), Allan Person (174), and Braden Best (184). All three scored wins via decision.
• The Mules have three total duals this week. Following the two matches on the road, UCM will return home on Friday, Feb. 2, to host Fort Hays State at 7 p.m.

Series History
Central Missouri vs. McKendree: 4-5-0
The Mules and Bearcats square off for just the 10th time overall. Last season, McKendree shutout UCM, 42-0, and are winners of the last two matchups. 

Central Missouri vs. Lindenwood: 7-10-0
The Mules have dropped their last four duals against the Lions, including a 41-11 contest a season ago. UCM last defeated Lindenwood in the 2012-13 season, 20-15.

Scouting the Competition
#6 McKendree
• McKendree comes into the week 11-4 overall and is 4-0 against GLVC opponents. They enter this week as the No. 6 team in Division II in the latest NWCA top-25 poll.
• The Bearcats finished last season placing fifth overall at the NCAA Division II National Championships. They were picked as the favorites to win the GLVC in the preseason poll and entered the year ranked No. 1 in Division II. 
• In the latest individual national rankings, McKendree has five grapplers in the top-12 in their respective weight classes. Darren Wynn leads the way at 141 pounds with the top spot. 
• The other four ranked wrestlers for the Bearcats are Isaiah Kemper (149, 10th), Ryan Strope (157, 6th), Qian'te Wagner (165, 10th), and Nick Foster (174, 4th). 
• The Bearcats are winners of their last four duals and will look to make it five straight against the Mules.

#20 Lindenwood
• Lindenwood enters its midweek matchup against the Mules with 4-5 overall record, but has yet to win an MIAA dual and is 0-3. Despite their record, the Lions are currently ranked No. 20 in the latest NWCA top-25 poll.
• The Lions went 7-5 last season and 3-2 in the MIAA. They entered this season picked to finish fourth the coaches' preseason poll. 
• Lindenwood has three grapplers ranked in the top-12 nationally in their respective weight classes. Carlos Jacquez leads the way ranked No. 4 at the 125 pound weight class.
• Next up in the rankings for the Lions is Hunter Haralson who is ranked No. 8 at 133 pounds. The final ranked grappler for Lindenwood is Jake Borgmeyer who entered the national rankings at No. 12 at 285 pounds
• The Lions are currently on a four-dual losing streak and will look to get back to a .500 record against UCM.
