Central Missouri Athletics Enshrines 2017-18 Hall of Fame Class

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 20, 2018) – This afternoon the University of Central Missouri to enshrined the next class of Hall of Famers. The 2017-18 class is comprised of nine individuals and three teams and will be enshrined Saturday, January 20, 2018.

This year's class saw Gary Pitts (football, 1981-84) entering the Hall of Fame from the early era. Nick DeBiasse (baseball, 2010-11), Natalie Jimenez (bowling, 2009-12), Elyse Mohme (volleyball, 2001-04), Jenna Schmidt (Jennies track and field, 2008-12), Anthony Stewart (football, 2009-10) and Darius Walker (Mules track and field, 2008-12) will represent the modern era. Adrian Andrews and Gary Mayabb will also be inducted in the special recognition category along with the 2009 Jennies Bowling Team, 2010 Mules Baseball and 2010 Mules Football Teams.

Gary Pitts
Football, 1981-84

Pitts was a two-time All-MIAA linebacker for the Mules including earning First Team honors in 1983. Pitts still ranks fifth all-time at UCM with 302 total tackles and his 133 tackles in 1983 are the third-most in a single-season in UCM history. He was a part of the MIAA Co-Championship team in 1983, the Mules first since 1970.

Nick DeBiasse
Baseball, 2010-11

In just two years in Warrensburg, DeBiasse achieved a great deal. He was named an All-American both seasons with the Mules and a two-time First Team All-MIAA selection. In 2011, DeBiasse was named the MIAA's Player of the Year and was the Most Valuable Player of the 2010 South Central Regional. A power-hitting first baseman, DeBiasse hit .457 in 2011 and his .431 lifetime average is the third-highest in UCM history. Throughout his two-year career, DeBiasse hit 26 home runs, drove in 135 runs and scored 146 times. Defensively his 906 career putouts are the third most in UCM history. DeBiasse was also a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and MIAA Scholar-Athlete and won the UCM Vernon Kennedy Award as UCM's top senior, male student-athlete.

Natalie Jimenez
Bowling, 2009-13

Jimenez was a four-time All-American for the Jennies Bowling program and helped the team to four-straight NCAA Championship appearances. She was a two-time Division II and Division III National Player of the Year and was the NTCA Division II Rookie of the Year. As a senior, Jimenez was an NTCA First Team All-American and Division II and III Player of the Year, averaging 210.4 pins per game. In 2011, Jimenez was the U.S. Amateur Champion and was a member of Junior Team USA in 2012. She was a member of the 2012-13 team which was ranked #1 in the country for a portion of the season. 

Elyse Mohme
Volleyball, 2001-04

Mohme sits at the top of various UCM volleyball offensive categories. She was a two-time All-American during her time in Warrensburg  as well as a three-time All-Region and three-time All-MIAA selection. She is second all-time with 661.0 points in her 2004 season and 10th all-time with 1,239 career points. She remains in the UCM top-five in kills with 1,660 and her 93 career matches with double-digit kills is still third all-time. Mohme was named the Most Outstanding Senior Female Student-Athlete at UCM in 2004.

Jenna Schmidt
Jennies Track and Field, 2008-12

Schmidt was a five-time All-American for Jennies Track and Field and a National Champion in the high jump in 2009. One of the best jumpers in UCM history, Schmidt has the fourth-best marks indoors and outdoors in the high jump, with a high of 5-9 ¾. She is also second all-time in the outdoor triple jump and one of only four Jennies to ever jump further than 40 feet at 42-1 ½, and she is fourth in the long jump at 19-5 ½. Schmidt is a three-time USTFCCCA Scholar All-American and the 2009 USTFCCCA Indoor Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Anthony Stewart
Football, 2009-10

Stewart's name is all over the UCM record book, despite only playing in Warrensburg for two years. He is a two-time All-American including a first team selection in 2010. His 1,950 career rushing yards are ninth most all-time and his 27 rushing touchdowns are fifth. Stewart was also a threat out of the backfield and his 1,597 receiving yards are 10th most at UCM. He caught 81 passes out of the backfield in 2010, second most in a single-season in UCM history. He scored 37 touchdowns in a Mules uniform which is fourth-most in program history and his 224 career points are sixth-best. He holds the record for pass receptions and receiving yards by a running back for a single game (10 & 146), season (81 & 883) and career (135 & 1,597).

Darius Walker
Mules Track and Field, 2008-12

Walker was a two-time National Champion for the Mules, once in the indoor heptathlon and once in the outdoor decathlon. He won eight All-American awards, four times in the multi-events, and four times as a member of the Mules 4x400m relay team. He is in the Mules all-time top-10 in nine events and second all-time at UCM in the heptathlon having scored 5,377 points. He is also second in the 110m hurdles having run 14.07. His 7,264 points in the decathlon are the fifth most in school history.  

Adrian Andrews
Central Missouri distinguished alumni Adrian Andrews is a special agent with the United States Secret Service. He is currently the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas Field Office, one of the largest field offices in the U.S. Secret Service. Andrews was a two-time All-MIAA running back for Mules Football from 1981-84. He was an MIAA Scholar-Athlete and three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. Andrews was a First Team All-MIAA selection in 1983, helping the Mules to their first MIAA Championship in 13 years. He set then-UCM records for points (72) and touchdowns (12) in a single-season and finished his four year career with 1,296 rushing yards, 731 receiving yards and 22 combined touchdowns. 

Gary Mayabb
Gary Mayabb is the new manager of USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Program. Mayabb has been involved in Missouri wrestling at all levels as a coach and an official. Mayabb was a member of Mules wrestling from 1980-83 and was a two-time team captain. He was an NCAA qualifier and the MIAA's Most Outstanding Wrestler in 1983.

2009 Jennies Bowling
Under Ron Holmes, Jennies Bowling finished as the national runner-up in 2009, their best finish in school history. The team finished with an 88-38 record, losing to Nebraska 4-1 for the National Championship.

2010 Mules Baseball
Mules Baseball finished tied for fifth at the NCAA championship after winning the regional, MIAA regular season and MIAA tournament. The Mules went 52-11 overall and 34-6 in the MIAA and didn't lose a single game at the Regional Tournament before going 1-2 at the Division II World Series.

2010 Mules Football
Under first-year Head Coach Jim Svoboda, the Mules won the most games in team history going 11-3 and 8-1 in the MIAA. They finished runner-up in the league standings and made it to the National Quarterfinals, their furthest playoff run in team history. The Mules won their first two NCAA playoff games including the first ever home playoff game in school history.
