It's Pink Night for UCM Volleyball vs. Lindenwood

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 24, 2017) - Central Missouri will play their annual Pink Night game tonight against Lindenwood.

Opponent: Lindenwood (15-10, 6-5 MIAA)

Where: Warrensburg, Mo. - UCM Multipurpose Building

When: Tuesday, Oct. 24 - 6 p.m.

Tuesday's match will be webcast online through Central Missouri's Blueframe Internet portal on the MIAA Network at TheMIAANetwork.com/ucmmules It is a pay-per-view broadcast. Live stats can be found at UCMathletics.com.

First Serve
• Central Missouri moved up to number 16 this week in the AVCA Coaches Poll after going 3-0 last week. They had previously been ranked 18th and earlier this season they reached their highest position in the poll, No. 15 after starting the season at No. 21 in the preseason poll.  
• This is the second straight week Central Missouri will play in three matches. Their first will be at home against Lindenwood. This weekend Central Missouri travels to a pair of in-state rivals, Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western. 
• Lindenwood has moved up to sixth in the MIAA standings with their 6-5 conference mark. They are 15-10 overall and have won seven of their last nine matches. 

Story Lines
• There is no team in the MIAA the Jennies have faced fewer than Lindenwood. The two teams have met only 12 times in their history. The Jennies are undefeated against Lindenwood, going 12-0 all-time after their win earlier this year. Playing in Warrensburg the Jennies are 6-0 and UCM has swept eight of the 12 matches since first meeting in 2011. 
• The two teams met back on September 26th in St. Charles, it was the Jennies third MIAA match of the season. The Jens got the better of the Lions on that night with a 3-1 win. Kasey Hohlen had 14 kills and Audrey Fisher 11. UCM had eight blocks in the match, outblocking one of the better blocking teams 8-5.
• Central Missouri is 3-0 on their current four-match homestand. They defeated William Jewell last Tuesday and Pittsburg State and Central Oklahoma last weekend. They are back on the road this weekend and are split three games apiece home and away for their final six matches.
• Last season, UCM went 11-7 in conference and finished fourth overall in the regular season.
• The Jennies went 23-10 overall in 2016, their 36th straight season with at least 20 wins. 

Quick Hits
Last Time Out
Central Missouri went 3-0 last week with wins over William Jewell, Pittsburg State and No. 10 Central Oklahoma. Kasey Hohlen had a career-day against the Bronchos with a new high of 24 kills in ther 3-1 win. Ally Offerdahl also had a career-best 57 assists. 

UCM in the Polls
The Jennies moved up to No. 16 this week in the AVCA Coaches Poll. They reached a high of No. 15 Sept. 11. They are the third-highest ranked MIAA team in the poll. UCM has moved up two spots in each of the last two polls. The Jens have been ranked in every AVCA poll since its inception in 1986, and this week, hit 405 straight weeks, the longest in the AVCA. 

Conference Leader Board (as of 10/23/2017)
Central Missouri's offense is at the top of the league in three major categories. UCM leads the MIAA with 13.50 assists per set as well as kills with 14.50 and are ranked 10th in the NCAA in both. They are second in the league with a .240 attack percentage. 

Ally Offerdahl has been the one racking up the assists. Her 11.33 assists per set is second in the MIAA and is 17th in the NCAA. Kasey Hohlen leads the MIAA and is 18th in the NCAA with a .380 attack percentage. She is also fifth in kills per set with 3.52. Freshman Aubrey Fisher's .323 attack percentage is fourth in the MIAA. 

Defensively, Kylie Hohlen leads the league and ninth in Division II with 6.18 digs per set.

Audrey Fisher is not only fifth in the league in hitting percentage, she is at the top of the conference with 0.42 service aces per set and 35 total aces. 

Individual Milestones
• Kasey Hohlen reached 700 career kills against Central Oklahoma.
• Carly Offerdahl needs 10 more digs for 600 in her career. 
• Ally Offerdahl is 48 assists away from reaching 1,000. 
• Abby Skrastins needs just two digs to reach 200. 

This Tuesday in Missouri
Jennies Coach Flip Piontek has has uncanny success both on Tuesdays and when playing teams from in their home state of Missouri. In his 8+ seasons, Piontek is undefeated, 34-0 playing on Tuesdays and he is also 98-3 when playing teams from Missouri. This Tuesday the Jens take on Lindenwood from St. Charles, Mo. 

Stifling Defense
Four Jennies are now averaging at least two digs per set this season. Kylie Hohlen's 6.18 leads the team. Senior Katie Carlson has 247 digs and 2.94 digs per set and both Offerdahl's with Carly and Ally both averaging more than 2.30 digs per set. Aubree Bell is just shy with 1.96 digs per set. 

.300 or Better
If you didn't see the match, a good way to see if UCM won is to look at the hitting percentage. Under Coach Piontek, Central Missouri 104-0 when they hit at least .300. While it hasn't happened often under Piontek, UCM is also just 3-10 when surrendering a .300 attack percentage to their opponent. The Jennies hit .311 in their match with UCO. 

Double-Dipping
Only two Jennies this season have recorded a double-double. Ally Offerdahl has nine assist-dig double-doubles while Aubree Bell has five kill-dig double-doubles. No Jennies has recorded a triple-double since Sarah Dallas in 1997. Offerdahl seems to have the best chance. She's been in double-figure assists every game this season and has seven double-digit dig matches. Her career-high in kills is eight. 

Weekly Honors
Kasey Hohlen has received back-to-back MIAA Hitter of the Week honors. In fact, the Jennies have swept the awards each of the last two weeks. Hohlen's sister, Kylie, was the Specialist of the Week recipiant last week while Ally Offerdahl took the award this week. Both Hohlen's have three MIAA weekly awards this year and Offerdahl now has two.

Pink Out!
Tuesday the Jennies will be supporting the Big Pink Volleyball program. The staff will be wearing pink the players will have pink ribbons. The seventh annual Big Pink Volleyball Tournament will be held Sunday, Oct. 29 with money going to the Johnson County Cancer Foundation. Registration closes Wednesday. 

Scouting the Opposition 
Lindenwood Lions (15-10, 6-5 MIAA)
• Lindenwood sits at 15-10 this season and are 6-5 in the MIAA, good for sixth place in the league standings. They've won seven of the their last nine matches with their only losses to No. 8 Nebraska-Kearney and No. 10 Central Oklahoma. 
• On the road this season, Lindenwood is 4-3 and 4-1 in their last five matches. 
• Six Lions have more than 100 kills this season and four are averaging at least two kills per set. Emily Wylie leads the way with 2.78 kills per set and 245 kills. Alex Dahlstrom has 173 and Bailey Dvorak 155. 
• The Lions average 12.6 kills per set which is eighth in the MIAA and their .217 hitting percentage has them ranked fourth in the conference. The 425 errors are the second fewest in the league. 
• Lindenwood runs with two setters, Ivy Reynolds and Allyson Clancy. As a team Lindenwood averages 11.57 assists per set. Reynolds is just ahead of Clancy with 5.69 assists per set and Clancy is at 4.93. 
• Both setters are also dangerous on the serve. Clancy leads the team with 27 aces and Reynolds is behind her with 20. Dahlstrom leads the team with 31 and Megan Hellwege has 20. 
• The Lions have already posted 194 blocks this season while allowing just 143.5. Sadie Kosciuk has 62 to lead the team and her 1.19 blocks per set is second in the MIAA. Alex Bogusz has returned after missing a month of action and has 54 blocks. Emily Wylie has 51, Alex Dahlstrom 48 and Ivy Reynolds 41. 
• Lindenwood is fourth in the MIAA in digs per set with 17.75 and they are second in the league with 1562 team digs. Hellwege is second in the MIAA with 5.93 digs per set and was the MIAA Specialist of the Week award winner in the first week of the season. Three other Lions have more than 100 digs as well. Reynolds has 208 and averages 2.42 digs per set while Abby Vulich is coming up with 2.49 digs per set and has 122 for the season.
