Mules Basketball well represented on USA D2 Men's Team going to Brazil

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 5, 2016) -- Central Missouri basketball players Jakob Lowrance and Spencer Reaves have been selected to play for the USA D-2 Men's Basketball Team's 2016 Brazil Tour. The team will be coached by UCM head coach Doug Karleskint.

The tour begins on May 10 in Orlando, Florida and runs from May 10-19. It includes stops in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The team will play games on May 12 and 13 in the state of Sao Paulo against professional and under 22 teams from the region. On the morning of May 14, the team will conduct a "Skills Clinic for the Youth of Jundiai". The team will travel to Rio de Janeiro for their final games on either May 15, 16 or 17.


While in Brazil the teams will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits. While in Rio the team will be staying on the famous Copacabana Beach and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. The USA D-2 Basketball Teams will also visit sites and venues that will be hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, to be held this August.The tour is sponsored by USA Sports Tours and Events.

"This is an outstanding group of basketball players that come from11 different state and 12 different colleges and universities," said Ron Smith, Director of USA Sports Tours & Events. "We feel that we have some of the best of the best representing NCAA Division II basketball and their universities. These players have been high achievers both on the court and in the classroom. They represent everything good that the NCAA Division II institutions have to offer."

Reaves was an Honorable Mention All-MIAA player in his first season for the Mules. He was second on the team, averaging 12.3 points per game. He shot 43 percent from the field and 84 percent at the free throw line. He scored in double figures 19 times, including a career-high 33 points against Pittsburg State.

Lowrance averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during his true freshman campaign. He shot 57 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. He scored in double figures 14 times during the year, including a season-high 21 at Southwest Baptist.
