UCM Game Notes | Live Stats

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Central Missouri Jennies softball (25-23, 11-11 MIAA) will wrap up their regular season this weekend with a pair of MIAA games at Lincoln and at Lindenwood. The Jennies will take on the Blue Tigers Friday, April 22 with a 2 p.m. start time and the regular season will officially end Saturday, April 23 at Lindenwood with a 1 p.m. first pitch.

Leading Off
• The Jennies wrap up MIAA play this weekend with doubleheaders at Lincoln and at Lindenwood Friday and Saturday, April 22-23.
• Tuesday's game vs. SBU was the final home game for UCM in 2016.
• This weekend's games will be the final ones before the MIAA Championship Tournament. Central Missouri is currently sitting in sixth place in the conference standings. The top eight teams make the MIAA Tournament field.
• Ali Jo Rogers was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week last week.
• Central Missouri is 11-11 in their first 22 MIAA games of 2016. They went 21-5 last year on their way to the MIAA regular season and tournament crowns.

Quick Hits
Anderson vs. the Blue Tigers
• Susan Anderson is 9-2 all-time against Lincoln as coach of the Jennies.

Anderson vs. the Lions
• Lindenwood has played Anderson's Jennies tough, matching them with an even 4-4 record in eight games played.

Jennies on the Road
• This season the Jennies have played to a 8-7 record away from Warrensburg.

Opening Acts
• Jennies leadoff hitters are hitting .368 (118-321) this season. Ali Jo Rogers, the team's leadoff hitter for all 40 games is 32-78 (.410) when starting an inning. She also has led off two games with home runs. In a small sample sizes Madison Hood is batting .583 (7-12) leading off an inning.
• The Jennies are also doing a good job of getting on the board early in games. UCM has 39 first inning runs, their most in any inning. When leading after one inning UCM is 13-5 and 13-3 when leading after two.

Little Alex is Still a Big Hit
• Standing at five feet, one inch there's no wonder why teammates call her "Little" Alex Leonhart. There's been nothing "little" about her bat though this season. It actually started in 2015 when Leonhart would routinely come up with timely hits, including two walk-off singles and a game-winning home run to clinch the MIAA regular season. This season, Leonhart may be the shortest cleanup hitter in the NCAA. She leads the Jennies with 30 RBI and 13 of her 35 hits have gone for extra bases. She hit her first home run of the season last week at William Jewell.

Queen of Steals
• Ali Jo Rogers continues to step on the gas when she gets on base. She's second in the MIAA lead with 35 this season. She set the Jennies single-season record last season with 49 and is the career leader, currently with 125. Christen Belcher from Truman State is the MIAA all-time stolen base leader with 153 steals from 2005-08.

Glove is Love
• Over their last 23 games UCM has turned up the defense committing only 17 errors for a .977 fielding percentage. The teams fielding was at .947 before the current stretch. One of the biggest improvements has come from Alexis Koop, who has just one error over that span and a .988 fielding percentage.

Freaky Friday's
• Central Missouri has had a difficult go of it on Friday's. It is one of only two days of the week with a losing record (the other being Thursday where UCM is 0-2). In Friday games in 2016, the Jennies are just 6-11. Comparatively, on Saturday's, UCM has gone 10-6. On Sunday's UCM is 2-1 in three games played and they are 7-5 in midweek action.

Crossover Pitching
• Jennies starters Emily Robinson and Allison Tonyan have both had success this season pitching to left-handed batters. Lefties are hitting just .227 off of Robinson (27-119), while Tonyan has fared even better, allowing just a .178 batting average (13-73).

Career Records
A handful of Jennies are closing in on some career milestones:
• Emily King and Alex Leonhart are inching closer to 100 career hits. King is at 97 hits while Leonhart stands at 95. The Jennies have had 47 student-athletes reach the 100 hit milestone.
• Lauren Mabe is also climbing up the Jennies all-time leaderboards. At 174 hits, Mabe is already in the top-15 all-time. She is also third all-time in home runs with 26 and is looking to become the third Jennie to ever hit 30 in a career. Finally, Mabe is just one double shy of cracking the top-10. She currently has 32 two-baggers while at UCM.
• Ali Jo Rogers hit 200 career games played two weekends ago, becoming the 11th Jennie to hit that mark. Now with 204, Rogers is 9th all-time. She's seven shy from catching her coach, who played in 210 games.
• Head Coach Susan Anderson hit 300 career wins at Central Missouri two weeks ago. She is now chasing another milestone and is 10 wins away from 500 for her career, spanning 17 season.

Scouting the Opposition
Lincoln
Series History:  Central Missouri has dominated the all-time series with the Blue Tigers to a tune of a 56-3 advantage. Lincoln did get wins in back-to-back years in 2012 and 2013, but the Jens have swept the last two series.
Scouting Report: Lincoln has lost their last nine games and enter the weekend 5-46 and 4-18 in the MIAA. They have been eliminated from MIAA postseason contention.

Tori Nienhueser has been the Blue Tigers top hitter, carrying a .254 batting average into the weekend. She also has two home runs and a team-high 18 RBI. As a team, Lincoln is hitting just .213 and has a .937 fielding percentage, both the lowest in the MIAA.

Madison Ragar is the only Blue Tiger with more than one win in the circle this season. She sports a 3-13 record with a 8.06 ERA in a team-high 106 innings pitched. Sarah Westhoff has the lowest ERA on the club at 7.62 in 82.2 innings pitched. Their 8.21 team earned run average is the highest in the MIAA.

Lindenwood
Series History
:  Lindenwood had previously given the Jennies trouble, winning three straight in 2013-14. But with their sweep last season, UCM has now won three straight of their own and hold a 9-5 all-time edge on the Lions.
Scouting Report: The Lions are also at the bottom of the MIAA with a 12-36 record and 6-16 in conference. LWU has done marginally better in home games, with a 5-9 record in St. Charles.

Brooklyn Sisk is the Lindenwood team leader with a .358 batting average which is 20th in the MIAA. She has eight doubles, one triple and two home runs and shares the team lead with three stolen bases. Maria Tippit is the Lions leader in RBI, having driven in 24 this season. Tippit, Sisk and Madeline Bohr all have an on base percentage above .400.

In the circle both Morgan Colvis and Bethany Fountain have five wings. Colvis has a 4.92 ERA in 111 innings pitched with 74 strikeouts while Fountain has a 6.69 ERA in 106.2 innings. The two have thrown all but 67 of the Lions 284.2 innings this season.
