JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Mules took 12th while the Jennies placed 18th Saturday morning at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Missouri.
The Mules were paced by senior
Michael Gawlick who finished the 8k course in a time of 25:17 placing 22nd. Sophomore
Ian Frazier crossed the finish line shortly after Gawlick and finished 27th with a time of 25:23. Rounding out the top five for he Mules were
Ty Hughes (46th),
Michael Frazier (68th), and J. P. Espnioza (92nd). The Mules totaled 242 points to finish in the top-half of the field. East Central won the team standings on the men's side with 121 points.
The Jennies were led by junior
Coleen Grone who finished 95th with a time of 19:34. Freshman
Stephanie Boan came in close behind Grone with a time of 19:37 and a 99th place finish.
Alyx Flippin (116),
Amy Marx (117),
Yesenia Gomez (119) rounded out the top five for the Jens. The Jennies finished 18th as a team and totaled 489 points. The University of California- San Diego won the team standings on the women's side with 56 points.
All ten Jennies that raced ran a faster time this week than the first 5K of the season, on Sept. 5.
The cross country programs will be back in action October 10 at the Gary Stoner Invite in Fayette, Missouri.
