Match Play scoring
CONOVER, N.C. -- The Mules Golf team opened the match play portion of the NCAA Championships with a 4-1 win over South Carolina-Aiken in the quarterfinals on Thursday morning at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
Teddy Jones got the Mules off to a good start with a two-under par 69 on the day. He beat Brandon Robinson-Thompson by eight shots to take their match.
Travis Mays was even on the day, but won his match with Johnson Holliday by 11 strokes to give UCM a 2-0 lead.
Cy Moritz secured the win for UCM with a four shot win over Hubert Tisserand. Moritz was five-under par on the round.
Sam Migdal was one over par on his round and dropped his match to Axel Ostensson by two shots.
Alex Springer finished off the win for the Mules with a one shot win over Andrew Ward.
With the win, the Mules advance to the NCAA Match Play Semifinals against second-seeded Nova Southeastern. That match has already begun.
