LaVance Taylor named to AP Little All-America First Team

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Central Missouri running back LaVance Tayler continues to garner postseason honors after his record-setting senior season. Taylor was named a First Team Associated Press Little All-American. The AP Little All-American team dates back to the early 1930's and includes players from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institutions.

Taylor was named to the AP Little All-America First Team as an all-purpose player. The Raytown, Missouri native led the MIAA and was third in NCAA-II with a UCM single-season record 1,918 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also led the team in receptions with 38 for 427 yards and two scores and he also tied the UCM career record with his third career kickoff return for a touchdown. He set UCM's single-season all-purpose yardage record with 2,618 yards and his 218.2 all-purpose yards per game was tops in NCAA Division II. He also set a new UCM career all-purpose yardage record with 6,231 yards. He finished his career second all-time at Central Missouri in rushing with 3,941 yards.

The Mules finished the season 8-4 overall and 7-4 in MIAA play and champions of the Second Annual Live United Bowl in Texarkana, Arkansas. Taylor was named MVP of the bowl game after rushing for 264 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. He caught three passes in the game for 87 yards and a touchdown.
