WARRENSBURG, Mo. –
The Central Missouri Jennies sweep another round of competition, on the second day of the Peggy Martin Challenge, and take their record to 7-0 for the season. The Jennies faced both McKendree and Ferris State without losing a set. The Jennies haven't won 20 straight sets since their 40-set win streak from Sept. 17 to Oct. 21 in 2011.

The Jennies first match of the day was against the McKendree Bearcats, the Jennies were able to hold the Bearcats to 15 points or less in each set, winning the sets 25-13, 25-14, 25-15. The Jennies dominated the first set, winning the first nine of ten points. Taylor Goodness and Julia Bates both ended the set with four kills, Becca Blaise was one behind with three.

The second set was much closer for the Bearcats, trailing the Jennies by two to three points for a majority of the set. The Jennies drove home the final five points of the match, uncontested with two kills from Bates, one from both Goodness and Blaise, and an attack error on the Bearcats.

The last set of the match began with McKendree taking the lead, winning four points in a row to start the match. The Jennies caught the Bearcats when the score was 4-6 with a kill from Thompson, and a serving ace from Mikalee Monachino. McKendree tied Central Missouri once more at 11-11, but the Jennies won the next 12 of 15 points, a gap the Bearcats couldn't close. The final point of the match came from a kill by Mackenzie Harding, her first of the season.

Central Missouri next set their sights on No. 23 Ferris State, the only ranked team they would face this weekend. In the first set the Jennies won seven of the first ten points, with three kills from Goodness and two from Blaise. That small lead was all Central Missouri needed, Ferris State only came within two points of the Jennies once before the set was over. Goodness had six kills in the first set, Blaise finished with four and Sojka with three.

The second set of the match was the only time Central Missouri allowed their opponent to reach twenty points the entire day. Ferris State caught the Jennies at 7-7, and took the lead for the first time of the match with the two points following. Central Missouri caught back up two points later, and didn't lose the lead again for the rest of the set. The Jennies added four consecutive points, at 21-21, to finish the set. Goodness again had six kills in the set, Bates, Sojka, and Maddie Jones all had three.

In the final set of the night for Central Missouri, Ferris State put up a fight, and even led the Jennies within the first nine points of the set. Although the Jennies won several points in a row earlier in the set, Ferris State effectively stopped the Jennies from running away with the end of the match. Central Missouri earned their final six of eight points one-by-one. Goodness ended her dynamic performance with five kills, and a grand total of 30 kills for the night. Sojka also reached double digits, with 10 kills against Ferris State.

The Peggy Martin Challenge will conclude Saturday. The Jennies will face Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
