WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Senior hitter Bradye Peniston led the charge with 11 kills as the 8th-ranked Central Missouri Jennies defeated Missouri S&T, 29-27, 25-23, 25-23, Tuesday night at the Multipurpose Building. The Jennies had to grind out all three games in the match, with each set being decided by just two points.

The Jens held a lead throughout much of the first set, until a six-point run from Missouri S&T changed the score from a 21-16 UCM lead into a 22-21 Lady Miner advantage. The Jennies faced a game point, down 24-22, but a kill from senior Hillary McCormick kept her team alive. Following a UCM timeout, Aubri Renshaw tied the set at 24-24 with a kill. The Jens survived three more game points before wrestling the lead away from the Lady Miners with a kill from Peniston and a service ace from Renshaw to make it 28-27. Peniston, along with freshman Carly Sojka teamed up for the game-winning block at 29-27.

In the second game, Central Missouri used a seven-point run - made up of a Julia Bates service ace and six Missouri S&T errors - to jump out to a 12-5 lead. The Lady Miners worked their way back into the game however, taking eight of nine points to tie the set at 17-17. Three straight errors for S&T made it 20-17, and the Jennies never gave the lead back, winning 25-23.

Missouri S&T held a narrow lead throughout the third game, as both teams struggled on offense, recording a combined 21 attack errors and a .013 attack percentage. At 17-17, McCormick earned the sideout with a kill, then Bates downed her second ace of the match to make it 19-17. Peniston's kill at 24-20 gave the Jennies match point. The Lady Miners rallied with three straight points, but Renshaw ended the match with a kill at 25-23.

Along with Peniston, freshman Carly Sojka reached double-digits, recording 10 kills. The Blue Springs native just missed out on a double-double, with 9 digs.
