JOPLIN, Mo.  --
Jennies soccer (8-1-2, 5-0-1 MIAA) picked up a key 3-1 victory against MIAA foe Missouri Southern (3-7-1, 3-4 MIAA) Friday night at Hal Bodon Field in Joplin.

The Jennies and Lions opened the match with three goals in the first 12 minutes. Jennies striker Alexis Robbers scored the first goal of the match off an assist from Kayla Shain in fourth minute to put Central Missouri up 1-0. Robbers' strike marked her team-high sixth goal of 2012.

The Jennies' lead didn't last long though as Missouri Southern's Megan Stueve equalized just two minutes later, leveling the match at one.

Jennies midfielder Carly Stanley put the Jennies ahead for good though six minutes later, scoring her second goal of the season off an assist from Jenna Stones, in the 12th minute, giving the Jennies a 2-1 lead. The assist from Stones is her team-high third of the season.

Stanley netted her second goal of the match and third of the season just three minutes into the second half, in the 48th minute off a Kristin Bright assist, giving the Jennies a 3-1 lead, a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night.

The Jennies outshot the Lions 9-5 in the match. Jennies goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff had three saves, allowing only one goal, to improve her overall record in-goal to 5-1-2.

The Jennies return to action Sunday afternoon, in Ada, Oklahoma, with a non-conference match against Great American Conference member East Central University. First kick is set for 1 p.m. at Lady Tiger Field.
