WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 24-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer coasted to a 4-0, shutout win over the Newman Jets in its 2026 home and MIAA opener on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (6-1-0, 1-0 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Hays, Kan., for a MIAA match at Fort Hays State (2-4-1, 0-2 MIAA) on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m.
Hannah Borgstadt got Central Missouri on the scoreboard early, netting her second goal of the season off an assist from
Coryn Jespersen just over 11 minutes into the match.
UCM's final three goals of the contest all occurred in the second half.
Hadley Lockhart controlled a pass from Jespersen and blasted it into the back of the net in the 47th minute, increasing the Jennies' lead to 2-0. It was Lockhart's team-high-tying third goal of the season.
Freshman
Annie Slamin slammed home a goal off an assist from
Kylie Richardson in the 84th minute, her second collegiate goal, and Richardson tallied her first goal of 2026 three minutes later in the 87th minute via Jespersen's third assist for the contest for UCM's fourth and final goal.
With the three assists, Jespersen tied her program single-match record of three assists set in Central Missouri's 4-0 win at Harding on Sept. 11. She leads the Jennies and is tied for the NCAA Division II assists lead with seven so far in 2026.
For the match, UCM outshot Newman (0-6-2, 0-2 MIAA), 25-6, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Jennies also bested the Jets in corner kicks, 7-1.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Kristen Wright (6-1) earned her third shutout of the season between the posts after allowing zero goals and making one save in 90 minutes.
